Adhika was pleased to attend the recent Womanact Annual General Meeting and connect with organizations, advocates, and community leaders working across gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, violence prevention, and gender equity.
It was a pleasure to connect with Harmy Mendoza, Executive Director of WomanACT, and to learn from the many organizations and individuals contributing to this important work.
As a Filipino community organization, Adhika values opportunities to build connections, share perspectives, and learn alongside others working to create safer, more inclusive, and supportive communities.
We were especially glad to see WomanACT’s materials available in multiple languages, including Tagalog. Language and representation matter, and seeing Tagalog included was a welcome reflection of the diverse communities these resources are intended to reach.
It was also touching to see a short article in the AGM booklet remembering the late Carmencita Hernandez, affectionately known as “Tita Ging.” Her contributions to the Filipino Canadian community and beyond continue to be remembered with warmth and respect.
We look forward to continuing to build connections and support collaborative efforts that strengthen and empower our communities.
