Although our physical shop is closed, our commitment to building connections, amplifying voices and celebrating the water is stronger than ever. 11 Years. One Last Wave.

After 11 incredible years, it’s time for us to paddle in. From day one, Surf the Greats has been more than a surf shop — it’s been a gathering place for coldwater dreamers, freshwater explorers, and a community that has proven you can surf anywhere there’s a wave and a brave heart.

To everyone who walked through our doors, joined us in the lineup, shared a coffee, a story, or a session — thank you. Your support, especially through our closing sale, means the world to us and has helped us ride this final wave with so much gratitude and love.

Our online shop will stay open for just a few more weeks as we clear out the last of our inventory. If there’s something you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time — once it’s gone, it’s gone.

As we pack up the boards and close the doors, we know this community lives on far beyond any four walls. The spirit of Surf the Greats will live in every lake, river, ocean, and stormy shoreline where someone dares to paddle out and feel alive.

Thank you for being part of this wave. Here’s to new adventures — and to this beautiful community that will ride on forever.

Spring has finally arrived and it’s time to get ready to hit the lakes again! With temperatures rising, ice thawing, and the winds picking up, here are our top 5 tips to getting back into the surf this spring! 🌻

Check Water Temperatures: Spring can be chilly so make sure to check the water temperature before heading out. A wetsuit (typically 3/2 mm or thicker) is essential for comfort and safety ❄️

Be Mindful of Wind Conditions: Spring often brings unpredictable winds. Check local wind forecasts and choose days with offshore or side-shore winds for the best surfing conditions 🌬️

Watch for Ice and Debris: Early spring can have leftover ice and floating debris from melting snow. Always be cautious when paddling out and keep an eye out for any obstacles in the water 🧊

Layer Up: In addition to your wetsuit, consider wearing a dryrobe for extra warmth before and after your surf session. Bringing along gloves, booties, and a hood may also be beneficial 🧤

Stay Hydrated and Sun-Protected: Even in cooler temperatures, it’s important to hydrate and protect your skin from sun exposure. The sun can be surprisingly strong in spring, so apply sunscreen before hitting the water 🌞

Over the past decade, Surf the Greats has been more than a surf shop—it’s been a movement. We’ve built a community that challenges the status quo, celebrates the rawness of coldwater surfing, and promotes inclusivity, sustainability and connection.

In 2024, we made the heavy-hearted decision to close our much-loved physical shop and surf school. This wasn’t an end; it was a beginning. We have heard you: we aren’t closing; we’re evolving and growing. Surf the Greats is pivoting toward an online model that best suits serving you, our loyal community across Canada and beyond.

Over the past six months, we have been working hard behind the scenes to refresh our brand and envision our new website. We’re stoked to launch a website that reflects us and our direction. Designed with our community in mind, we’ve made it faster, prettier, and packed with features to make your surfing life better.

We are more dedicated than ever to diversity, inclusion, environmental stewardship, and community building. We continue to elevate leaders, businesses, and organizations while creating ripple effects of lasting change through our impactful collaborations.
