June is National Indigenous History Month—a time to honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island.

It is also a time to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and the systemic injustices that Indigenous communities have faced and continue to face today. Some members of our community have experienced these challenges firsthand, and their stories remind us of the importance of fostering understanding, equity, and belonging.

This month, we celebrate the knowledge, leadership, and cultural richness of Indigenous Peoples. We also recognize our responsibility to listen, learn, and walk alongside Indigenous communities in the spirit of respect, reconciliation, and compassion.

As we observe National Indigenous History Month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone is treated with dignity and care.

This , we’re celebrating the power of good food to bring comfort, connection, and care—because everyone deserves access to a healthy meal and a welcoming place at the table.

It’s Pride month and we’re celebrating our 2SLGBTQ+ staff, volunteers, participants, donors, and local businesses helping us to build a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community.

While there is still much more work to be done to promote and establish equality for all, we are committed to learning and working hard to ensure our doors are always open to anyone facing adversity, social isolation, or are in need of support.

Since the beginning the Sisters of St. Joseph have embraced an all-inclusive love that is reflected in their response to the evolving needs of the time - a value that Fontbonne continues to wholeheartedly embrace.

We respect and celebrate each person as they are, and we are proud to offer safe spaces where people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions are embraced and valued.

Happy PRIDE month everyone! 🌈

We are so grateful to our friends at Untitled by Flaunt Boutique for stopping by on the last Tuesday of every month to provide free haircuts for members of our community!

A haircut is more than just personal care — it can be a powerful boost to confidence, dignity, and well-being. Unfortunately, access to these services can be difficult for individuals experiencing homelessness, social isolation, mobility challenges, mental health struggles, or other barriers.

That’s why we are endlessly grateful to the generous team at Untitled, who donate their time and talents each month to offer complimentary haircuts in a safe, welcoming, and respectful space at our location at 791 Queen St. East.

Our neighbours across the street are true partners in kindness. Through their inclusivity, compassion, and care, they help bring comfort, confidence, and a little extra joy to our community.

Thank you, Untitled, for helping people feel their very best — inside and out. ✂️❤️

It’s been a long winter for many who come to Fontbonne … so we decided to welcome Spring the best way we know how — with blooming flowers, creativity, and a few sweet chocolate treats!

Yesterday’s Bloom Box Workshop was filled with laughter, creativity, and beautiful floral designs. Each creation turned into a one-of-a-kind piece — perfect as a thoughtful gift or a cheerful Spring decoration to brighten any space. 🌷

Workshops like these are about more than crafting beautiful pieces — they’re about building a welcoming community and providing a safe and respectful space where creativity, connection, and wellbeing can truly flourish.💕

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this workshop so special! We can’t wait for the next one.

Did you know that loneliness and isolation can lead to physical and mental health risks?

According to the Canadian Mental Health Association CMHA National, poverty greatly increases the risk of social isolation. For example, 25% of seniors in the lowest income groups experience loneliness.

Fontbonne Ministries works with those who are at high risk of being socially isolated. Our Drop-In provides a welcoming and inclusive space where people can enjoy a warm meal, develop meaningful social connections, and find a sense of belonging.

Together as a community, we are not only providing food—we are fostering hope, dignity, and connection.

Every Wednesday, Fontbonne Ministries partners with FoodShare Toronto, a food justice organization that works to challenge systemic barriers that keep people from accessing the food they need.

Together, we help those in our community struggling to cover their grocery needs with affordable produce though our weekly Good Food Market. Check it out every Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 791 Queen St East!

The Good Food Market offers a vibrant selection of fresh, local, nutritious produce—all at lower, affordable prices.

At Fontbonne, we're committed to making healthy food accessible to everyone in our community. Fresh produce is also incorporated into our food access program in the Drop-In, which serves free breakfast and lunch weekdays between 7:30 am and 2 pm.

Today is national commemorating Indigenous women, girls, 2-spirited people and others who have been affected by trauma and violence.

The is a powerful symbol of the violence faced by Indigenous communities. It reminds us that we all have a role to play in building safety for our First Nations and Indigenous neighbours and community members.

Guided by the spirit of compassion and care, Fontbonne Ministries supports the call for safety, healing, and change. Today, we will engage in a series of activities aimed at highlighting this ongoing issue, including viewing an educational documentary and reflecting on the meaning and history of Red Dress Day.
