Today, our original member Calin spent time with Giorgia, our beloved Caucasian Shepherd (Ovcharka), and the connection between them was truly heartwarming.

As Calin walked, Giorgia stayed close, watching over his every step with her natural protective instincts. In return, Calin cared for her with the same gentle attention and trust. It was a beautiful reminder of the unique bond that can form between people and dogs.

As we move forward with our service dog program at MindShift Academy, moments like these show the incredible impact these companions can have on the lives of neurodiverse young adults—providing comfort, confidence, emotional support, and unconditional friendship.

We can’t wait to see how this program grows and the lives it will touch.

Today The MindShift Academy explored the city one step at a time. We walked along Bloor Street, noticed beautiful crochet and yarn patchwork wrapped around benches and chairs, and opened conversations about creativity, community, and awareness.

June is DeafBlind Awareness Month — a reminder that communication, connection, and understanding come in many forms.

Our outings are never “just a walk.” They are opportunities to build observation skills, social awareness, conversation, emotional understanding, and real-world learning. 💙
