It’s a wrap! Last week, Easter Seals Ontario hosted the final Drop Zone event of the year.

To our rappellers who participated across Canada: thank you for your bravery, generosity, and determination. With your support, we’ve raised vital funds for Easter Seals’ life-changing programs and services for people with disabilities, helping us create greater opportunities and more inclusive communities across Canada.

Aliyah finds joy in life’s simple moments. ❤️

At 8 years old, she loves listening to music, exploring the textures of sensory books and enjoying cuddles with her family.

“Aliyah has a fun personality and she is always smiling,” shares her mom, Shondel. Although Aliyah is non-verbal, she has her own way of communicating with the people who know her best.

Born with cerebral palsy, Aliyah relies on specialized equipment to help her safely explore and experience the world around her.

With funding from Easter Seals Ontario’s Equipment Funding Program, Aliyah was able to access a stander that helps strengthen her muscles and a specialized bath chair that makes one of her favourite routines safer and easier for both her and her mom.

For Shondel, that support has made a real difference in their everyday lives. “Having the bath chair was really a great help. It really took that extra load off me.”

For Aliyah, the right equipment isn’t just about mobility. It’s about making room for the moments she loves most, from listening to stories and enjoying songs to feeling the water on her feet at bath time. Thanks to the generosity of Easter Seals Ontario donors, more children like Aliyah can experience those moments every day. 🫶🤗

Those who know Wesley best describe him as “the chillest, happiest, sweetest little guy ever.”

Born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, Wesley experiences mobility and developmental challenges and is non-verbal. But none of that slows down his cheerful personality or his love of rubber ducks, swimming and zooming around the house in his favourite ride-on police car.

Wesley relies on specialized equipment every day, including a bath chair funded through Easter Seals Ontario’s Equipment Funding Program.

As Wesley grew, he outgrew the bath seat he had used since he was a baby, making it increasingly difficult for his mom to bathe him safely on her own. His new bath chair provides the support he needs, making bath time safer and easier for both Wesley and his mom.

“The bath seat has made a world of difference. Bath time has become one of his favourite parts of the day. He laughs his head off in there,” shares his mom, Kassandra.

Thank you to everyone who supports Easter Seals Ontario. Because of you, children like Wesley can access the equipment they need to safely enjoy the everyday moments that make childhood special. 💛

Supporter Spotlight: The Sal Iacono Family Bursary 🫶

For nearly two decades, the Sal Iacono Family Bursary has helped Easter Seals students attending Algonquin College pursue their post-secondary education with greater financial support.

Established in 2008 by Sal and Marisa Iacono and two anonymous donors, the bursary reflects Sal’s longstanding commitment to education, family and community. Following his passing in 2023, his daughter Elena and the Iacono family have continued to carry that commitment forward.

“Education mattered deeply to him, as did the principle of excellence in everything he did,” says Elena. “This bursary gives Easter Seals students the opportunity to pursue their education with fewer financial pressures and greater freedom to focus on what they want to achieve.”

This year’s recipient, Lukas Cheeseman, is beginning his studies at Algonquin College, with the bursary helping support the costs of tuition, textbooks, transportation and more.

Thank you to the Iacono family for continuing Sal’s legacy and helping Easter Seals students pursue their educational goals with greater confidence and support. ❤️

You do not need to already be a confident public speaker or have previous Ambassador experience. Throughout the program, our team will offer support, feedback and practical tips to help you grow into the role.

Scholarship Program Spotlight! 🎓❤️

Meet Lukas, a 2026 recipient of the Sal Iacono Family Bursary Endowment Fund!

Lukas is studying Office Administration at Algonquin College, and this bursary is helping ease the added costs that can come with pursuing post-secondary education as a student with a physical disability.

He shares:

“Your support will help lessen the financial burden of tuition, textbooks, transportation, and other school-related costs, allowing me to focus more fully on my education and future goals.”

For Lukas, that support means being able to put more energy toward his studies and continue building a career where he hopes to give back to his community.
