Today, June 5, marks HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day — a day to honour the resilience, strength, and contributions of people who have lived longest with HIV.
In March, Realize Interim Co-Executive Director Kate Murzin joined long-term survivors from Canada, the U.S., and Europe at the Long-Term Survivors of HIV Summit in Sitges, Spain. Together, participants shared powerful stories of diagnosis, survival, advocacy, and resilience under the theme "Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future."
The summit highlighted the importance of preserving these lived experiences while addressing the ongoing realities of aging with HIV, including stigma, discrimination, health challenges, and access to care.
At Realize, we remain committed to ensuring that long-term survivors are not only remembered for what they endured, but supported in how they continue to live, age, and thrive.
