Imagine a woman waking up in the middle of the night in terrible pain.

She needs urgent medical care. She is scared. She is suffering.

She needs a female doctor—someone she can feel safe and comfortable with.

But there is no female doctor available.

Why should a woman have to suffer in pain simply because she cannot find a female doctor?

Now imagine that woman is your mother. Your sister. Your daughter.

Wouldn’t you want someone there to care for her?

This is why educating Afghan women to become doctors is so important. When we educate one female doctor, she can go on to care for and save the lives of thousands of women.

One day, a young woman will put on a white coat.

She’ll walk into a hospital.

She’ll hold a woman’s hand when she is scared.

She’ll help a mother safely deliver her baby.

She’ll care for the sick.

And one day… she may save a life.
