From Drab to Dileas!
Friday 10 April 2026 was a dull and dreary day with the threat of rain in Toronto but the weather did not dampen the spirits of five members of our chapter. We gathered to turn buttons of chocolate into bars of sweet delights complete with a falcon motif. We had melters, pourers, tappers 1&2, coolers, baggers and finishers. We will be selling our chocolates to raise funds to support one Highlander on the Battlefield tour in 2027.
Great job Susan Arbour, Beth Crook, Shirley Elms, Dianne Love and Janet McKay.

Chapter Member Lindsey Lake dropped deployment packages at the MFRC to be forwarded to deployed troops of the 48th Highlanders of Canada currently deployed to Latvia on Operation Reassurance. For those serving overseas treats from home are most welcome. Well done Lindsey!

The following was written by Ashley Bonnell upon learning of the passing of our chapter member Bonnie Brown-Thompson. We each have wonderful memories of Bonnie, her wonderful smile and her quick wit. The world is a little sadder for losing her but blessed that she was here and we shared some aspect of her time with us. Rest easy Bonnie

Our IODE Sister

Not sister by blood,
but sister by choice,
by shared purpose, service, and care.
She stood beside us in friendship and kindness, woven into our chapter and our hearts.

Though her place now is quiet,
her spirit remains in the work we do,
the values we carry forward,
and the community she helped to shape.

May we honour her by continuing together, as sisters always do.

With sympathy and remembrance.

Holiday spirit in action! ๐ŸŽโœจ
At todayโ€™s Annual Christmas Luncheon, our chapter collected an amazing amount of childrenโ€™s clothing for northern families. Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity made this photo (and this season!) shine even brighter. โค๏ธ

Christmas stockings and toys ready to be packed up and sent to our connected community. Cars and toys, dolls and hats, slippers and books. Thank you to everyone who crocheted, knitted and donated items to put a smile on the faces of children of King Fisher Lake our chapter supports.

October is IODE Awareness Month. One of the many projects our chapter has undertaken is sending deployment packages to members of our Canadian Armed Forces currently deployed outside Canada.
Chapter member Lindsey Lake, a serving member of the CAF currently serving at CTC Gagetown, New Brunswick purchased items and put together the packages. Lindsey needed some IODE Echoes to include so she put out a call to New Brunswick chapters; and her call was answered. Each package contained treats from home. No doubt the recipients will be sharing their good fortune with those around them.
Our thanks goes out to Lindsey who continues her dedication to IODE.

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you were able to have time with family and friends this weekend.
