Tortola slideshow time! 🌊☀️

In February 2027, FUSION is heading to Tortola, British Virgin Islands for a 10-day ceramics retreat at The Pottery Garden Karl Burnett , and the story behind it is almost as good as the destination itself.

Our very own Alison Brannen met pottery garden owner Karl Burnett on a sailing trip six years ago, and the two have been friends ever since.

There is something transformative about deepening your practice in a magical place like Tortola. When you open your mind to new experiences, you’re leaving the door open for the muse to pay you a visit ✨

You will spend 8 days in the studio working with Karl Burnett, Alison Brannen, Catharina Goldnau, and a special guest, with electric kiln firings and your very own concluding exhibition in Road Town with official local recognition. In between? An island tour, a free day to explore, and all the authentic Tortolan culture and cuisine you can soak in. Oh, and your accommodation is steps from a swimmable, sunset drenched beach.

Want to hear all about it straight from Alison herself? Join us for our online info session Tuesday, June 16 at 7 PM on Zoom. Alison is our resident travel expert, Saggar goddess and the best person on the planet to tell you why this trip will change your life.

Somewhere between perfecting your forms and refining your practice, did the fun get a little lost?

Play is not just for beginners. It is for all of us.

Parallel Play: Wake Up Your Surfaces! Explore New Ideas! with Jenny Mendes and Annie McDonald is a 1.5 day workshop built entirely around that spirit. Through terra sigillata, slips, engobes, symbolic imagery, narrative mark-making, and low-fire glazes, you will shake up your surface language and rediscover the joy of pure experimentation.

Jenny and Annie are the real deal — their energy is infectious and their combined knowledge will push your work in directions you didn’t see coming. With a very small class size, there is plenty of room to explore, make mistakes, and actually play.
