While FUSION is known for celebrating clay and glass, the Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists has also been a wonderful opportunity to feature talented visual artists working in other mediums, joining the show especially for its final stop at Neilson Park Creative Centre. We’re proud to spotlight: Adam Wiebe, Narmin Kassam, Kaeli MacDonald, and Yasaman Mehrsa.
Their work adds a beautiful dimension to this exhibition, expanding the conversation beyond ceramics and celebrating creativity in all its forms.

In With One Voice, gathering is an act of belonging. Women come together while remaining distinct, carrying their own histories, identities, and lived experiences into a shared space. Handmade and decorative papers from different parts of the world are torn, layered, and reassembled, allowing individual fragments to become part of something larger without losing their distinction. With One Voice #12 and #13 explore this relationship between individuality and collective presence. Through proximity, gesture, pattern, and layered surface, gathering becomes a space where difference remains visible, relationships take form, and belonging becomes possible.

This body of work references a repetitive practice of locating oneself in time and space - geographically rooting into a familiar landscape and affirming a sense of identity through repeated action. Gathering often references the bringing together of a group of people or objects. In this work, I am exploring how we gather parts of self through practices that can hold multiple parts, stories and histories. Walking the same path over and over again, painting repeatedly - shapes, lines, and colours - until what results has become more than the sum of our parts.
