It is with great sadness that we share the passing of an incredible human, Shaun of Dog Hero.

Shaun dedicated his life to helping rescue dogs find safety, love, and forever homes. His compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to animals touched countless lives both human and canine. He will be deeply missed by the rescue community and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, another tragedy has occurred. Shaun’s beloved dog, Cheddar, was involved in a serious accident and was struck by a vehicle. As a result, she now requires extensive orthopedic surgery that will cost thousands of dollars.

This difficult situation also serves as an important reminder of why rescue organizations often require martingale collars and double-leash systems for rescue dogs. These safety measures can help prevent devastating accidents and keep vulnerable dogs safe.

We are asking for your support to help Cheddar receive the surgery and care she urgently needs. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to giving her the chance to heal and continue the life that Shaun would have wanted for her.

If you are able to contribute, please know that every dollar truly helps. If you cannot donate, sharing this post is also a meaningful way to support Cheddar.

Thank you for helping us honor Shaun’s legacy of compassion and love for rescue animals. ❤️

Adventures with my rescue turkey, Jarren 🦃

We went on a little car ride to our local favourite café, Sprinkles n’ Things, for a cozy cappuccino stop.

Turkeys are incredibly sentient beings—just like dogs and cats. They form deep bonds with humans and other animals, feel joy, curiosity, and trust, and thrive on connection. Jarren is a beautiful reminder of just how intelligent and loving farm animals truly are.

Jarren is one of 68 rescued animals saved by Coveted Canines and Creatures Rescue . All of these amazing animals now call the Acres4Art farm sanctuary home, where compassion, creativity, and education come together.

At Acres4Art, you can join us for art classes, sanctuary tours, and meaningful experiences that connect people to animals in a whole new way.

Tis’ the Season to Adopt a Senior!!!!!

Meet Lucas – Our Sweet Senior Looking for a Calm, Kid-Free Forever Home
Lucas is a 12 lb poodle–schnauzer mix who was adopted from Coveted Canines 9 years ago and spent almost a decade as a deeply loved family member. As his family grew, it became clear that Lucas was not comfortable around little ones. The noise, crawling, and unpredictability of young children made him anxious, and he would react with barking and growling when he felt overwhelmed or unsure. His family did everything they could to keep him separated and feeling safe, but ultimately realized that Lucas would be happiest in a home without children, where he can enjoy his senior years in peace.
Per their adoption contract, Lucas was returned to the same rescue he originally came from, and he is now thriving in his foster home. He lives with several dogs and gets along beautifully with them, often choosing to quietly cuddle up next to the other seniors. For his age, Lucas is in great health and enjoys a calm, predictable routine. He may be experiencing some hearing loss, which can contribute to his sensitivity in busy environments, but in a peaceful home he is relaxed, sweet, and content.
Lucas is fully housetrained, has no food restrictions, and is an excellent candidate for condo living. All he wants is a quiet, loving home where he can be the centre of your world.
Lucas has been vetted with core vaccines (dh2pp, rabies), neutered, microchipped, dewormed, on tick/heartworm and flea prevention, had a dental last year and his teeth are still ok.
If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate senior who will be your loyal companion, Lucas just might be your perfect match. ❤️🐾

Dear Friends and Followers,

On this special day, August 8—my birthday and the pinnacle of the Lion’s Gate portal, recognized as one of the most powerful days for manifesting—I am thrilled to share something close to my heart. Since 2015, we have devoted ourselves to rescuing animals, and this journey has been nothing short of magnificent, filled with love, challenges, and accomplishments.

Today, I am proud to introduce you to our rescue's latest mission, which is now official! We are excited to unveil our website, created with dedication by our Information Manager, Kathryn Griffiths, a steadfast member of our team since inception.

Our newish initiative, , is an inspiring fusion of animal rescue, artistic expression, and healing. With approximately 60 rescue animals currently residing on our farm—and many newcomers yet to be introduced—we strive to create a harmonious space where creativity and compassion intersect.

At , we leverage art education, art therapy, and the unique bond between humans and rescue animals to help individuals of all ages heal their inner shadows and reclaim their love for life.
Our approach is a symphony of passionate expression and community connection. Through art programs and personalized therapeutic experiences, both our rescued animals and participants undergo profound process.

We have hosted wonderful workshops with children, unveiling a vibrant tapestry of creativity and individuality. These sessions enrich their lives, enhancing social skills, conflict resolution, problem-solving abilities, and self-esteem while fostering joy and creativity.

Our adult workshops facilitate a journey of self-discovery, empowering participants to reconnect with their inner child and explore transformative aspects of themselves, ultimately embracing their divine potential and limitless possibilities.

Every interaction with the loving and sentient beings at our rescue nurtures compassion and empathy within us. The experience of reflecting on ourselves through the eyes of an animal is one of the most profound gifts we can offer ourselves and especially to our children.

With immense pride and excitement, I invite you to explore what we've been passionately crafting with our beloved Canines and Creatures.

Visit us at www.acres4art.com (http://www.acres4art.com), and join us in this journey of creativity, healing, and love. We hope you share in the joy and inspiration that we feel.

All funds raised through our art programs, art therapy, and the sale of artwork are used to sustain the farm, covering expenses such as hay, feed, animal bedding, veterinary care, and infrastructure repairs.

Sending love and gratitude to you and to the creative creature within you—“as within, so without.”

Love and light,
Carly ♥️💫
