Reflecting on Freedom and Storytelling this August!

This Emancipation Day, we re-imagine freedom narratives through our August Book of the Month, "Washington Black," by acclaimed author Esi Edugyan.

While we celebrate the legal end of slavery, this powerful story reminds us that true equality is an ongoing journey. Trace Washington's flight from bo***ge and his search for humanity in a world that often refuses to see it.

Start your August with this Scotiabank Giller Prize-winning essential read. Borrow your copy from the Blackstone Foundation Library.
