"One moment for me was when I was checking in with the family on whether our current schedule (every Sunday afternoon) was still the best time for me to visit. The grandmother, the primary caretaker, said yes, because she noticed that when I visit on Sundays, the little boy I work with has a much better week in terms of his behaviour, both at school and at home.

I think for her it was a small moment, just a conversation about scheduling, but for me it made me realize Iā€™m truly making a difference for this family.ā€ šŸ’›

Natalieā€™s story is a reminder that sometimes the smallest acts of consistency and care can have the biggest impact.

Moments like Motherā€™s Day allow our community to grow and help us reach more people who want to make a difference for families navigating parental cancer.

This Motherā€™s Day, our community truly bloomed. From sharing Jordannaā€™s story on CTVā€™s Things to Know, to our Brunch & Blooms event, to the generosity of our partners Village Craft and Candle and Dennyā€™s Canada, every act of support created meaningful impact for families in need.

That impact will help carry us beyond the 1,000+ meals weā€™re preparing to deliver and toward every family still waiting for support.

With Motherā€™s Day around the corner, we recently hosted an intimate Brunch & Blooms gathering to bring our community together and share the real impact of our meal program šŸ’

Guests heard powerful stories from Nankind moms navigating cancer while raising their families. But also the very real challenges of managing treatment, caring for their children, and worrying about how to keep food on the table.

Moments like these remind us why our work matters. Because when meals are taken care of, it gives moms one less worry to carry.

We are incredibly grateful to share Nankind has received a $20,000 gift from the TELUS Community Board.

This funding will directly support Nankindā€™s work giving children experiencing a parentā€™s cancer diagnosis, the tools to cope and will help to lessen the impact of cancer on families in Ontario.

We are excited to invest these funds into our programming that will build emotional resiliency for children and the families we serve.
