🎓 We are delighted to celebrate Wafaa Hayek, who has completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Specialized Honours, at York University through the Daughters for Life Scholarship Program, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Originally from Jordan, Wafaa stood out during the 2022 scholarship cycle for her academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, independence, and commitment to community service.

With her degree, Wafaa is well prepared to pursue her goal of supporting community well-being, particularly by improving mental health services for women and underserved communities in Jordan.

Representing Daughters for Life, Hodan Garbiye attended the convocation to celebrate this important milestone alongside Wafaa.

Wafaa’s graduation also marks another milestone in DFL’s decade-long partnership with York University: a partnership dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for future women leaders from the MENA region.

🎓 Congratulations, Maryam Anabtawi!

We are thrilled to celebrate Maryam Anabtawi, a Palestinian DFL scholar and 2026 graduate of York University.

Maryam joined DFL in 2022 after impressing the selection committee with her academic excellence, thoughtfulness, and clear sense of purpose. Before joining DFL, she earned a competitive merit-based scholarship to attend UWC Dilijan in Armenia. Through the DFL–York University Scholarship, she continued her global academic journey, including an exchange term at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

Maryam has now earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, opening the door to future opportunities in research, healthcare, and the applied sciences.

Representing Daughters for Life, Hodan Garbiye attended the convocation to celebrate this milestone and capture memories alongside Maryam and her family, who travelled to Canada for the occasion.
