September means that we’re gearing up to bring our annual delegation of Ontarians to Germany for Reeperbahn Festival! MusicOntario is partnering with CIMA - The Canadian Independent Music Association and Ontario Creates for our 10th year at one of Germany’s biggest events.

As part of CIMA - The Canadian Independent Music Association’s Canada House, we’ll be hosting six Ontario artists at Uwe Reeperbahn, right in the middle of all the action on the Reeperbahn over two full days of live Canadian music on from September 17-18, 2026.

We’re excited to welcome Bee Ramesh, Co-founder of FOREIGNERZ Media and Marketing Manager at Birthday Cake Records to Communities Connect Kingston on Thursday, August 20.

Bee Ramesh (aka Eboshi) is a Toronto-based creative strategist, director, writer, and multidisciplinary artist shaping the future of music and media. As Marketing Manager and A&R at Birthday Cake Records, she leads innovative campaigns that amplify artists and releases with creative precision. A member of the experimental hip-hop duo Cartel Madras, they began performing in 2018 and quickly caught the attention of Ishmael Butler (Shabazz Palaces, Digable Planets), signing with Sub Pop Records shortly after. Bee has toured internationally and landed syncs with Netflix, Hulu, and EA Sports. Cartel Madras is set to release their new album, blending genre-defying sounds with their signature raw energy.

As co-founder of FOREIGNERZ Media, Bee produces dynamic film, TV, and commercial content, while also curating arts and fashion events. FOREIGNERZ is currently developing a scripted comedy series. A Keychange alum, she is committed to fostering diversity and excellence in the music industry. Known for her sharp creative vision, Bee is a universe architect, crafting bold marketing and branding strategies that transcend borders and push artists forward with a fearless, global perspective.

We’re excited to welcome Matt Maw, founder of SUPERCONNECTED, to Communities Connect Kingston on Thursday, August 20.

Matt Maw (Chippewas of the Thames First Nation) is the founder of SUPERCONNECTED, a Toronto-based music company spanning artist management, label services, and music and culture consulting. He brings well over a decade of multi-faceted music industry experience, a deep commitment to artist development, and a track record of building sustainable careers.

Throughout his career, Matt has worked with some of Canada’s most celebrated artists, overseeing an award-winning, genre-spanning roster including Sebastian Gaskin, SUUNCAAT, Boogey The Beat, Wolf Saga, and Miesha & the Spanks.

In 2025, Matt was named to Billboard Canada’s inaugural “40 Under 40”, recognizing his leadership in defining the future of Indigenous representation in Canada’s music industry. In the same year, under his guidance, Sebastian Gaskin celebrated his first JUNO Award nomination and win for Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year and was named as an inaugural Artist-In-Residence at Massey Hall. In 2026, Matt received the Trailblazer Award from Music Managers Forum Canada, presented at the 18th MMF Canada Honour Roll Awards in partnership with Billboard Canada’s Managers to Watch. The award recognizes a manager carving new paths in the industry, honouring Matt’s work advancing the recognition of Indigenous music in Canada alongside the launch of SUPERCONNECTED.

Matt currently sits on the board of Music Managers Forum Canada and the BreakOut West Indigenous Advisory Committee, and has worked alongside organizations including CARAS, SOCAN Foundation, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, Universal Music Canada, Warner Music Group Canada, Arts & Crafts Productions, and Six Shooter Records, among others.

MusicOntario and CION are teaming up to present two nights of private showcases during the Folk Canada conference in October 2026!

Taking place in Hamilton, ON, this year, Folk Canada is the premier annual gathering of Canada’s folk, roots, and world music community, and an essential platform for artists, presenters, buyers, and industry professionals from across the country and around the world.

If you’re not familiar with private showcasing, they’re the bonus after-hours showcases after each day’s conference programming and official showcasing wraps for the evening. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with peers, industry, and international delegates and to perform acoustically in an intimate setting. We welcome applications from folk artists from across Ontario and from any folk tradition.

We’re in Brighton, UK this week for our 12th year, presenting the lineup of Ontario artists at Canada House during The Great Escape (TGE) 2026!

Applications to showcase at Canada House 2026 are currently open!

Reeperbahn is a competitive opportunity to access the 5th largest music market in the world, according to IFPI’s 2026 Global Music Report on the state of the industry – having just been bumped out of the #4 slot by China. Revenues in Europe rose by 5.6% in 2025, with the region’s recorded music revenues accounting for 30.4% of the global market. Germany remains the second largest market in Europe, with its 2025 revenue growth clocking in at 1.7%.
