Crohn's and Colitis Canada

Crohn's and Colitis Canada We aspire to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Crohn's and Colitis Canada was founded in 1974 by concerned parents who believed their children, and others living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, deserved better care and better lives. That founding principle guides us today as we invest in research, offer patient support programs, and team up with volunteers to take on inflammatory bowel disease.

What if your care team had a clearer roadmap for managing your Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis?

Consistent, high-quality care can make a meaningful difference throughout a patient's journey.

Through Promoting Access and Care through Centres of Excellence (PACE), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Clinical Care Pathways help standardize care across Canada by providing healthcare professionals with evidence-informed guidance for treatment decisions, disease monitoring, surgery planning, and ongoing care.

As we celebrate 10 years of PACE, we're proud to lead initiatives that help ensure Canadians living with Crohn's or colitis receive consistent, evidence-informed care when and where they need it.

We left Pediatric IBD Day in Saskatoon feeling inspired! ✨

Connecting with youth, families, and healthcare professionals, while seeing Gutsy Walk shirts proudly worn throughout the room, was a powerful reminder that the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community is stronger together.

We were encouraged to hear how families are using our resources and educational content, while also learning where more support is needed, especially for teens living with IBD.
We're grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and connect! ❤️

These conversations help shape our programs, resources, and advocacy efforts so we can better support everyone affected by IBD.

Think there's one "perfect" diet for Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis? 🤔

Not quite.

What works for one person living with Crohn's or colitis might not work for someone else. Foods that feel great for one person can be a trigger for another.

That's because everyone's inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) journey is different, and so is their relationship with food.

Finding what works for your body can take time, patience, and a little trial and error.

Marissa turned her Grade 12 Capstone project into a powerful Go Further fundraiser! She created The Gutsy Games, a charity volleyball tournament. 🏐

Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at just six years old, she spent years navigating an invisible illness and is now raising funds and awareness to build understanding, support, and hope.

Feeling inspired? Set up your own Go Further fundraiser and fundraise your way for the Crohn’s and colitis community!

A Crohn's disease diagnosis at 16 changed her life, but it didn't change her goals.

Today, Abbie is entering her final year of university, advocating for the Crohn’s and colitis community, and working toward a career in medicine.

This International Youth Day, read Abbie’s story to see how resilience, community, and self-advocacy helped shape her journey, and how a diagnosis doesn’t have to hold you back.

We all know one.

The champion. The cheerleader. The advocate. The person who makes our community stronger just by being part of it. ❤️

The Finkelstein Award was created to recognize people making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Maybe they're a volunteer. Maybe they're the person always ready to listen, advocate, fundraise, or lend a helping hand. Whatever their role, if they've made a meaningful impact on the Crohn's and colitis community, we'd love to help celebrate them!

If someone in our community deserves a big collective "THANK YOU!!" nominate them for the Finkelstein Award today!
