This week’s feature is a regular ornithologist! Meet Stormie, a 14-year-old tabby, who is currently in the care of My Grandfather's Cat. She loves to birdwatch, and is friendly and curious.

Stormie is in the rescue’s care because her previous pet parent, with whom she was with since she was a kitten, moved into hospice care. She would be best suited to a quiet home. This can include other cats and cat-savvy children. Additionally, Stormie may do well in a home with a calm dog as she’s had previous interactions with dogs while family were visiting.

Overall, Stormie loves to be around people, is energetic, and likes to be outside (supervised, of course). So, if you want to learn more about her, click here: https://www.mygrandfatherscat.ca/adoptables/stormie

This week’s loves to explore! Meet Capaldi, an 8-year-old mixed breed dog, who is currently in the care of Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta. He loves routines, birdwatching, and space to run around.

Capaldi has very specific needs: he requires a family who has an acreage with a heated building he can get in and out of in order to explore. He especially needs a space to roam, with a fence to ensure his safety. Capaldi is not suited to a home with cats and while he is cautious and shy around new people, he is never mean. Capaldi has made progress while living in his foster home and can now be walked on a leash (though, he pulls) and now go for car rides. Lastly, he eats Science Diet Sensitive Stomach and Skin and Kirkland biscuits.

Overall, Capaldi is looking for a place where he can not only set down roots, but indulge in his inner Christopher Columbus. So, if you want to learn more about him, click here: https://adopt.scarscare.ca/view-animal/?scars_id=28107811

This week's is a loyal companion who knows all the rules — and follows every single one! Meet Ricky, an approximately 14-year-old Corgi mix, who is currently in the care of . He is clever, devoted, and will put his paw in your lap the moment you stop petting him!

Ricky came into the rescue's care after his owner of 10 years was no longer able to provide for him. He has recently recovered from bladder stone surgery and is doing brilliantly — crystal-free and 10 pounds lighter! He takes potassium citrate tablets twice daily with his meals and eats a veterinary diet to stay healthy. Ricky would be best suited to a home where he is the only pet, as he prefers to be the centre of attention and is not good with other dogs or cats.

What makes Ricky truly special is how well-mannered he is. He waits to be told he can get on the couch, waits for his meals, and knows to stay out of the kitchen when people are cooking. He is house trained, sleeps through the night, and can be left alone for 4 to 5 hours without any trouble. He knows sit, stay, down, off, and p*e, and is currently working on his reactivity to other dogs on walks, and is making great progress!

Overall, Ricky is a smart, happy, and devoted companion who just wants a family to call his own. If you'd like to learn more about him, click here: https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/dog-adoption-application-2/

This week’s is a little adventurer! Meet Benji, a 9-year-old cat who is currently in the care of My Grandfather's Cat. He is a gentleman who loves to chase bugs and lounge on the deck.

Benji came into the rescue’s care after his human passed away. He loves being outside and exploring the wider world, and is used to a rural environment. He would be best suited to a home where he has access to both indoors and outdoors, or a safe backyard. Benji should be the only pet in the home and he is not suited to a home with children. He loves to play, but can get a little feisty!

Overall, Benji is an independent kitty who doesn’t ask for much: just companionship and a new forever family. So, if you want to learn more about him, click here: https://www.mygrandfatherscat.ca/adoptables/benji

This week’s features believe wholeheartedly in the buddy system! Meet Kona, a 9-year-old Chow Chow, and Kali, a 7-year-old Chow Chow, who are currently in the care of Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society. They are affectionate, loving, and gentle.

Kona and Kali’s bond runs deep, and therefore, they must be adopted together. The rescue says they “rely on each other for comfort, companionship, and a sense of security.” And, because of their bond, it would be unfair to Kona and Kali to split them up. Their new forever family should be Chow Chow-savvy, be calm and patient, have few stairs (for Kona in particular as he gets older), a secure yard, and should not have young children. They are good with other dogs and kids, but have not been tested around cats.

While Kona and Kali have a strong bond, it does not overshadow their own personalities! Kona loves being around people and is the more confident dog of the two. He loves to rest his head on his human’s lap or look at you with his expressive eyes. Meanwhile, Kali may be quiet and observant, but she has confidence and grace in spades! She loves lounging in the coolest parts of the house and is always by her brother’s side. This week’s feature loves to chat and soak up the sun! Meet Scruffette, a 9-year-old cat, who is currently in the care of My Grandfather's Cat. She is vocal, enjoys exploring, and is intelligent.

Scruffette needs a second forever home because her previous pet parent passed away. Her ideal home is calm and relaxed, free of children, and one where she is the only pet. Scruffette is currently on anxiety medication to help her manage the stress of living with other cats. And, because Scruffette likes to explore, a safe outdoor space to do so would be best for her.

Overall, Scruffette likes to lounge around, converse with her humans, and lap up water from the bottom of the sink and bathtub. So, if you want to learn more about her, click here: https://www.mygrandfatherscat.ca/adoptables/scruffette

This week’s is the epitome of his name: small, mighty, and full of surprises! Meet Gizmo, a 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, who is currently in the care of Animatch Dog Adoption. He is cuddly, enjoys his daily walks, and loves being scratched behind the ears.

Gizmo is looking for a home, but not only for himself. He has two other dog siblings, Nala and Lexa, and they would prefer to be adopted together. It also takes Gizmo some time to open up in his new surroundings, but when he does, he becomes a cuddle monster. Therefore, slow introductions are best. His ideal home is one with adults or, if there are children in the home, they should be older. This is because it is difficult for Gizmo (and his siblings) to tolerate active children or those who haven’t yet learned how to be gentle with small dogs.

Overall, Gizmo is an active dog who is looking to give as much love as he receives. So, if you want to learn more about him, click here: https://animatch.ca/pages/dogs/26059

This week's is a true gentleman, but he has a Kleenex-stealing habit! Meet Leo, an 11-year-old Cockapoo, who is currently in the care of -of-Dogs-100076242694838. He is sweet, quiet, and gentle, and loves meeting new people and dogs wherever he goes.

Leo gets along well with other dogs and has shown no aggression around cats. He is good with older kids, though younger kids are untested. He walks beautifully on leash, loves a good sniff on the trail, and is equally happy in the car — he has even been known to hitch a ride in a tow truck! Leo has Glaucoma that requires daily eye drops, though his vision appears largely unaffected, and he stands patiently for every drop and every vet visit. He also has a vet-assessed Lipoma behind his left front leg that doesn't affect his movement at all. He is a little overweight but his regular walks are helping with that!

Overall, Leo is easygoing, adaptable, and has not one bad thing about him — except perhaps his love of Kleenex. If you'd like to learn more about him, click here: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/47656036-toronto-ontario-poodle-miniature-spaniel-unknown-type-mix

This week's wants to hold your hand! Meet Ringo, an approximately 9-year-old Terrier/Pit Bull mix who is currently in the care of Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta . He is friendly, loving, and will always say yes to leisurely walks.

Ringo thrives best as the only pet in the home, away from cats and small children, ideally in a calm and peaceful environment. Children in the home should be 10-years-old and older. And, while he can tolerate other dogs, the off-leash dog park isn't really his scene. Ringo is not much of a ball player, but he is very treat-motivated! And despite the scars that give him a tough look, he is genuinely sweet and gentle at heart.

Overall, Ringo loves peace and tranquility and wants to be your best friend. So, if you want to learn more about this cute rocker, click here: https://adopt.scarscare.ca/view-animal/?scars_id=43248548
