This week's feature is 4.5 pounds of 'earn my trust.’ Meet Cozie, a 9.5-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, who is currently in the care of Animatch Dog Adoption. She has a big personality, enjoys playing fetch, and loves the peace and quiet.

Cozie’s ideal environment is an adult-only home as she is uncomfortable living with children. She needs time to feel comfortable before being handled. Additionally, quick movements, reaching unexpectedly, or looming over Cozie can cause her to react. Her new family will need to learn how to read Cozie’s body language and then act appropriately. Ultimately, though, if her new forever family shows her love, trust, and respect, she will thrive and give that love and trust right back.

This week's feature just wants a quiet corner of the world to call her own. Meet Luna, a 12-year-old mixed breed dog, who is currently in the care of New Hope Dog Rescue. She is quiet, loyal, and gentle.

It would be best for Luna to be the only dog in her new forever home. She is currently in foster care, and while she is learning to share her space, Luna may gently growl at other dogs to let them know they are getting too close to her. Luna takes a little while to trust, but when she does, she will always want to be by your side, no matter what the activity is (whether you’re going for a walk, napping, or driving, Luna isn’t picky!). It would also be best if her new forever family is patient and understanding with her, knowing the pay-off will be worth it in seeing Luna grow into her best self.

This week’s feature may look like a penguin, but he doesn’t play hockey. Meet Crosby, a 10-year-old tuxedo cat, who is currently in the care of My Grandfather's Cat. He loves to play with toys, and is sweet and gentle.

Crosby’s previous pet parent could no longer care for him, so Crosby is now in the rescue’s care. During a vet check, Crosby was diagnosed with diabetes. It is temporarily being managed through diet, but his new forever family will need to care for his diabetes with regular care and insulin. It would be best for Crosby’s new forever family to not have other pets or small children, in addition to having previous experience managing diabetes in cats.

Jake's ready to wake up your world this ! Meet Jake, a 14-year-old Domestic Shorthair Mix, who is currently in the care of Ninth Life Cat Rescue of Ontario. He is a sweetie who loves to cuddle, spend time with his favourite people, and enjoys attention.

Jake came into the rescue’s care after his previous pet parent moved into assisted living and could not take Jake and both of his brothers with her. And, Jake will show you all the love and affection he has to give. It would also be best if Jake and his brothers could be adopted together (especially since Jake gets along well with other cats).

This , get a sweet Cookie, but without the cavities! Meet Cookie, a 9-year-old Maltese x Yorkie cross, who is currently in the care of Animatch Dog Adoption. He wants to experience life himself and is energetic and loving.

Cookie came into the rescue’s care after his previous family moved and couldn’t take him with them. He will need to have his coat maintained on a regular basis, in addition to being taken to a groomer. Cookie would prefer to explore and experience life, rather than spending the day napping on the couch. And, having his forever family by his side would be the ideal situation.

Oh, Danny Boy, this feature has our hearts calling! Meet Danny, an 8-year-old Labrador Shepherd Mix, who is currently in Mexico and in the care of West Coast Paws Dog Rescue. He enjoys being around people, loves to go for walks, and is affectionate.

Danny was rescued off of the streets of Mexico by a veterinarian, who took him in and nursed him back to health. He dislikes thunderstorms and prefers to hide when the rain gets too loud. His behaviour around kids is unknown, and while he gets along well with female dogs, he can be selective around male dogs. Meanwhile, he gets along well with cats. The rescue says his new family must be prepared and willing to help train Danny with a possible prey drive when it comes to small animals such as rabbits and squirrels (he hasn’t been around them at this point in time). Lastly, Danny is working on his crate and car training skills.

Whether you love Summerween or Halloween, you’ll be saying ‘Boo’ all year. Meet Boo, a 9-year-old cat, who is currently in the care of My Grandfather's Cat. She likes to look out the window, play with toys, and take naps.

Boo came into the rescue’s care after her previous pet parent passed away. She loves to be petted, but will set boundaries and let you know when she’s had enough. Boo loves food, and as a result, has been put on a weight loss plan (the rescue says she is successful at losing weight). She would be best suited to a home without young children (if there are children in Boo’s new forever home, they should be older, cat-savvy, and respectful of her space). Boo currently lives with a dog, and the rescue believes, with proper introductions, she will be able to live with another cat.

This week’s feature is a little fighter! Meet Hilda, a 10-year-old Shih Tzu, who is currently in the care of . She loves to follow her foster family around, enjoys spending time outside, and thrives in the peace and quiet.

Hilda is learning to trust the world and needs an adoptive family who has patience, understanding, and who will let Hilda open up at her own pace. She is startled by unfamiliar sights and sounds and needs a place where she can shake off her fear (currently, Hilda’s safe space is her foster family’s bedroom). She often does not like to be touched or handled and offers her trust to a select few. Hilda would be best suited to an adult-only home that has a fully fenced-in yard because she is a flight risk. Hilda also does not like to go for walks because of all the sights and sounds.

☀️🐾 What a day! Dog Days of Summer was a success! 🐾☀️

Thank you to everyone who came out to Dog Days of Summer at CF Shops at Don Mills Saturday!

We were thrilled to see so many dogs, families, animal lovers and members of our community come out to celebrate — and thankfully, the weather held up! 🌤️🐶

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful hosts and the entire team at Cadillac Fairview and CF Shops at Don Mills for welcoming us and helping make the event possible. Your support means so much to us and to the animal rescue community. ❤️

This week’s feature has discovered a new ‘leash’ on life (teeth not included). Meet Bouboule, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu, who is currently in the care of Animatch Dog Adoption. He is cheerful and loving and he enjoys going for walks.

Bouboule and his best friend, Jilly, came into the rescue's care after their previous family moved. Over the years, they suffered from severe dental disease, and Bouboule has since had all of his teeth removed. But he is absolutely thriving and is a much happier dog because of it. He's medium energy, can thrive in a home without Jilly, and hasn't been tested around cats yet.
