A few weeks ago, we teamed up with our friends at TIFF Next Wave and POV Film for our annual 48-Hour Film Challenge ✨

We wrapped our challenge with a screening and reception at TIFF Lightbox, celebrating the films, the filmmakers, and the community that made it all happen.

Congratulations to our 2026 Pitch Competition winner, Tanzeil Moustapha, for the pitch of her coming of age short film, Al Mushata ✨

Set on the eve of her 6th grade graduation photos, a young Sudanese-Canadian girl’s ruined hairstyle forces her mother to reconnect her with their cultural roots, one braid at a time.

And that’s a wrap on 🎬✨

Day 4 was packed with incredible student shorts, a masterclass led by the immensely talented Natasha Braier ASC, a Q&A with her following a screening of I Love Boosters, and Tyrone announcement of our DDI winner. We closed out the festival with our amazing Closing Night Feature Programme, celebrating the creativity and passion of Canadian filmmakers.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported our filmmakers, volunteered, partnered with us, and helped make the Future of Film Showcase 2026 such a memorable experience.
