Keeping children safe should never be a child’s job. 💙

For a long time, child abuse prevention focused heavily on what children should do: say no, get away, tell an adult.

But prevention cannot depend on a child being able to recognize danger and stop it.

Adults have the responsibility to create safer environments for children, where they feel heard, their boundaries are respected, and safeguards are in place before something happens.

At Boost CYAC, our prevention work gives children developmentally appropriate knowledge about their safety, while also ensuring the adults around them have the knowledge and tools to help protect them.

Children have a role in learning about their safety.

Adults have the responsibility for protecting it.

Why We Go Blue 💙

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
This year, Boost CYAC is joining Child & Youth Advocacy Centres across Canada in Going Blue - a shared symbol of our commitment to preventing child abuse and supporting children, youth and families.

Going Blue allows Boost to join CYACs across the country in bringing a specific focus to child abuse prevention.

Awareness matters. But awareness is only the beginning.

This October, don’t just Go Blue. Get Informed.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the experiences of Indigenous children and the lasting impact of residential schools on survivors, families and communities.

At Boost CYAC, our work supporting children who have experienced abuse reminds us of the profound and lasting impact trauma can have on a child, a family, and generations to come.

Every child deserves to be safe, heard, believed, and supported.

Today, we reflect, listen and reaffirm our commitment to learning and to creating safer, more compassionate systems for all children and youth.

🌈 On June 28th 2026 Boost CYAC marched in the Toronto Pride Parade, celebrating the identity, individuality, and the many different ways people experience the world. At Boost CYAC we believe that every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued. This includes creating safe spaces where children can grow into who they are and feel celebrated while doing so. We were therefore so honoured to recognize Pride in Toronto, and celebrate the strength, diversity, and richness of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Happy Pride Everyone! 🌈
