Dr. Howitt shares what it’s like working with Team Canada athletes. 🇨🇦

He puts it simply: “The relationship with their healthcare practitioner starts with caring.”

A great reminder that beyond performance and recovery, the strongest athlete-practitioner relationships are built on trust, empathy, and genuine care.

We’re cheering on Team Canada and wishing them the best of luck in today’s match against Qatar! ⚽

Today, the CCA continued meeting with MPs, Senators, political leaders, and healthcare decision-makers to advance our advocacy priorities and strengthen awareness of the role chiropractors play in Canada's healthcare system. 🇨🇦🤝

From reducing barriers to the Disability Tax Credit process to improving access to evidence-based neuromusculoskeletal care, each conversation helped build momentum for meaningful policy change.

We hope these discussions have laid important groundwork with government interest holders and highlighted opportunities to alleviate pressure on Canada's healthcare system, including allowing chiropractors to certify DTC applications for eligible patients.

Advocacy doesn't end when Hill Day concludes. We look forward to building on these conversations, sharing our learnings, and continuing to work alongside our members and partners to advance the profession and improve patient access to care.

🇨🇦 We kicked off Hill Day with a strong start, beginning with a meet and greet with MP Maggie Chi, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health, followed by a press conference calling on the federal government to authorize chiropractors to certify Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications - A practical change could make a meaningful difference for Canadians living with chronic pain, disability, and mobility challenges.

Following the press conference, CCA representatives met with MPs, Senators, and government officials to discuss key priorities for the profession, including improving access to evidence-based neuromusculoskeletal care, expanding the Student Loan Forgiveness Program, improving access to care for CAF members, and reinstating chiropractic services under the NIHB program.

We’re grateful for the many conversations taking place and for the opportunity to demonstrate the value chiropractors bring to communities across Canada.

We’re energized by the momentum from today’s discussions and look forward to a busy day of meetings tomorrow as we continue advocating for patients, the profession, and a stronger healthcare system for all Canadians.

It’s time to improve access to the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

Today on Parliament Hill, the CCA called on the federal government to authorize chiropractors to certify DTC applications for eligible patients.

Mobility and walking restrictions are among the most common reasons Canadians qualify for the DTC, with approximately 670,000 Canadians holding a certificate citing a walking impairment. Chiropractors assess these types of functional limitations every day and are well-positioned to support eligible patients through the application process.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to shape Canada today.
