Celebrate National Indigenous History Month with our FREE event! 🥳🎉

Taking place at Evergreen Brick Works, Indigenous Celebration is a free, family-friendly event that features a performance by T Tribal Vision Dance, colouring activity with The Moccasin Identifier Initiative, storytelling with authors Nancy Cooper, Deborah Kigjugalik Webster and Sarabeth Holden. Plus, planetarium shows hosted by Samantha Doxtator in partnership with McMaster University.

Join us for the 2026 MNO Youth Leadership Conference.

This August, Métis youth from across Ontario will gather in Thunder Bay for our 10th Annual Youth Leadership Conference - a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and lead.

When: Tuesday, August 11 to Wednesday August 12, 2026
Where: Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre, 1 Valhalla Inn Rd, Thunder Bay
Who: Verified MNO citizens ages 16–29 (Youth under 18 will need a chaperone.)

This year's theme is Building Our Nation: Métis Youth and Self-Governance. Participants can expect:

- Interactive workshops on self-governance and Métis leadership
- Land-based learning experiences
- A unique opportunity to connect with Métis youth from across the province
- Storytelling sessions that celebrate our identity and community

Application approvals will consider regional representation, past event attendance, and attendance at the AGA to support balanced participation and engagement. Applicants will be contacted by the YLC Team regarding the status of their application by end of June.

Indigenous in-the -field Turtle Protector Job Description:

Contribute to Turtle Conservation in Toronto by:

* monitoring roads surrounding parks for turtles and helping them cross in the direction of travel
* scouting Toronto Parks for nesting mamas and supporting them by helping park visitors stay two car lengths away
* placing nest protectors over successful nests and recording data
* engaging the public

We are looking for folks who:

* are willing and able to work long hours - turtle nesting season is short and intense
* are willing to work in all kinds of weather (rain and heat - definitely not lightening though!!)
* are willing and able to travel to different Toronto Parks based on need
* are willing and able to start some shifts as early at 6:00 am
* are willing and able to engage Toronto Park visitors with some turtle facts

Compensation: $19/hour, 280 hours, total contract $5320, start date ideally May 25, end date, ideally July 15.

Check out this year's Spring EcoFair Toronto 2026, where Canadian Food Safety Training will be offering a free, hands-on Métis-inspired weaving activity where participants create simple woven pieces using recycled cardboard weaving boards. Visitors of all ages are welcome to participate. They invite the community to BYOY — bring your own yarn to contribute to the collective weaving table and help reduce textile waste while celebrating creativity and connection.
