On November 2, 2025, a powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan, killing at least 20 people and injuring more than 640 others, including 25 in critical condition, according to disaster management officials. Health authorities have warned that the number of casualties may continue to rise.

In a country already facing immense hardship, the quake delivered a devastating force, fragile homes made of mud and brick collapsed within seconds, leaving entire communities shattered. Families are grieving the loss of loved ones while many survivors remain without shelter, searching through the rubble for hope.

At CWB, we extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the resilient communities now struggling to rebuild their lives💔

On September 29th, 2025, the current de-facto government issued a ban on fibre-optic internet (often used for Wi‐Fi and high‑speed broadband) across Afghanistan, a decision that plunged an entire nation into darkness.

Overnight, millions were cut off from the outside world. Businesses collapsed, students lost access to education, journalists were silenced, and families were severed from loved ones abroad. The internet had been more than just a tool, it was a fragile thread connecting them to hope, to opportunity, to the world beyond their borders.

The removal didn’t just sever communication lines; it extinguished one of the last remaining lifelines to freedom. At CWB, we stand with those silenced by disconnection. We remain committed to amplifying their voices!💔

The restriction of internet access in northern Afghanistan severely undermines educational opportunities, particularly for girls, by cutting off one of the few remaining avenues for remote learning. In a context where in-person schooling is already limited or outright banned for many girls, online education had served as a critical lifeline.

This action not only makes gender inequality worse, but also clearly violates the basic right to education. At CWB, we strongly condemn any measures that limit access to learning, especially for girls in northern Afghanistan. We believe that every child has the right to quality education, regardless of their gender or location!
