Following a national search that attracted more than 1,000 applications, I am proud to showcase these exceptional students who will form the first Wolf Scholars cohort. Please see the attached PDF for their bios or see www.wolfscholars.com/scholars. We are EXCEPTIONALLY thrilled to share that an incredible 5 of our 16 selected scholars were Ontario DECA participants and leaders, and a further two were finalists. The scholars are: Andres Guanchez Sucre, Camilo Sierra de Rojas, Raluca Voina, Ryan Perkins and Jiya Goel.
These scholars come from communities across Canada, from large urban centres to smaller towns and rural regions. Together they reflect the geographic breadth and diversity of the country, bringing perspectives shaped by very different local contexts and experiences.
Members of the inaugural cohort plan to pursue studies across the sciences, humanities, social sciences, and emerging interdisciplinary fields. What unites them is not a single discipline, but a shared sense of interdisciplinary curiosity, character, pursuit of excellence, and commitment to contributing meaningfully to society.
We are excited to follow the paths they will shape in the years ahead!
