The death of James K. Cooper in Mississippi has left his family with serious unanswered questions.

James, a 23-year-old Wisconsin man, traveled to Mississippi in April 2023 after a woman close to him told him that she was seriously ill and needed help. According to accounts from his family and an advocacy campaign, he later disappeared in May.

On May 10, 2023, James was found in Metcalfe, Mississippi, sitting on the ground with a cable around his neck. His family has questioned how he ended up there and raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

The family has also questioned the handling of the investigation, including the speed of the initial conclusion, the examination of his remains, and why they were reportedly encouraged to proceed with cremation before they felt their questions had been adequately answered. These claims come primarily from the family's advocacy campaign and have not been independently established by the sources I found.

What makes the case particularly troubling for his loved ones is the number of unanswered questions surrounding James's final days, his relationship, his disappearance and the circumstances in which he was found.

His family continues to call for a thorough and independent investigation into what happened.

James was only 23.

He had a family who loved him, plans for his future and a life ahead of him.

Whatever the truth is, his family deserves answers.

Monday, August 17, 2026, marked our 100th outreach day as we continue to lay the foundation for a permanent presence in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Based on our sales volume thus far, we are cautiously optimistic that there is at least one pathway to accomplish the goal we set for Hamilton in 2024. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. Just like everywhere we go, the same top concerns are being voiced: the economy and crime. As we educate the residents of Hamilton on the mistakes we saw in Toronto many years ago, we can help prevent them here. Hamilton has a unique opportunity to determine its future. The question that remains unanswered is whether the residents of Hamilton are prepared to do what it takes to seize this life-changing opportunity. Time will tell.

Before the investigations were complete, before all the evidence was in, before due process had run its course, white America somehow took the sides of…

The white cop who murdered George Floyd.
The white cop who murdered Botham Jean.
The white cop who murdered Atatiana Jefferson.
The white cops who killed Breonna Taylor.
The white man who killed Jordan Neely.
The white men who murdered Ahmaud Arbery.
The white cop who murdered Laquan McDonald.
Susan Smith, who murdered her own children and blamed it on a Black man.
Charles Stuart, who murdered his wife and blamed it on a Black man.
The white friends of Nolan Wells.

Again and again, whiteness gets the presumption of innocence, the benefit of the doubt, the sympathetic explanation, and the rush to defend.

But Black people asking questions, demanding answers, and refusing to accept a convenient narrative before the facts are known, are…“MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT RACE.”

The caucasity is breathtaking.

You don’t get to make race matter when defending whiteness and then demand that Black people pretend race doesn’t exist when we demand accountability.

🚨 HE SURVIVED THE CRASH… BUT NOT THE PEOPLE WHO CAME TO HELP. 💔

Imagine escaping a wreck that should’ve taken your life.

Climbing out of twisted metal.
Bleeding.
Confused.
Alone in the dark.

Your only thought is:

“I need help.”

That was 24-year-old Jonathan Ferrell’s final journey.

Jonathan wasn’t a criminal.

He was a mechanical engineering graduate from Florida A&M University.
A former football player.
A son with dreams and a future.

In the early morning hours of September 14, 2013, Jonathan crashed his car on a rural road near Charlotte, North Carolina.

Somehow…

He survived.

He crawled out of the wreckage and walked until he found a house.

He knocked on the front door hoping someone would save him.

Instead, the homeowner called 911.

When officers arrived, they confronted Jonathan. One officer used a Taser, but it didn’t stop him.

Then…

An officer fired.

Jonathan was sh💥t 10 times.

He was unarmed.

He d!ed just yards from the house where he had gone looking for help.

Officer Randall Kerrick was charged with voluntary manslaughter, but after a mistrial, the charge was dismissed.

No officer was criminally convicted.

Jonathan’s death sparked protests across the country and became part of a larger conversation about race, fear, and policing.

But to his family…

This wasn’t a debate.

It was their son.

A young man who survived the crash…

Escaped the wreckage…

Made it to someone’s front door…

And still never made it home.
