BREAKING: Animal Justice, WeHowl, & Wolf Awareness Inc have sent joint submissions to the Canadian government & to the Alberta government over potentially unlawful use of Compound 1080 to kill coyotes, calling for an investigation & enforcement action.

From 2010–2021, more than 16,000 poison tablets were deployed in Alberta, while only 83 carcasses were recovered—highlighting failures in record-keeping & oversight & the overall danger of Compound 1080 use.

This cruel poison causes a slow, agonizing death for animals & is devastating to the environment.

🎉 Victory! Manitoba has passed Bill 19, taking an important step toward regulating animal breeders after years of little to no oversight.

Animal Justice will keep working to ensure ALL companion animal breeders are included in the law's regulations, including those who breed cats, ferrets, & other animals!

BREAKING: The Ontario Court of Appeal overturned a court victory that struck down key parts of Ontario's ag gag law as unconstitutional.

This ruling puts whistleblowers, journalists, & animal advocates at risk of massive fines & jail time for exposing animal cruelty in factory farms & slaughterhouses.

Animal Justice lawyers fought hard on the case, & are deeply disappointed by this decision. We are considering all available options—including seeking leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.
