After paying rent, Anna had just $50 left for food. It was never enough to fill her fridge or ease her hunger.

What she found at United Way-funded York Region Food Network changed that. See how your support is helping shape a GTA where no one has to face hunger alone.

With courage and commitment, our United Way Speakers Bureau volunteers share their stories with others, bringing the impact of support to life. Amazing volunteers like 2025 Ontario Volunteer Service Award recipient, Bob Duff, Executive Director at St. Simon's Clubbehouse Shelter, who has been volunteering his time with United Way for 27 years, inspire others to contribute and come together for community. We are so grateful to him, and each of our 150 Speaker Bureau volunteers that help create positive change. This , we’re sending our love their way!

Across the GTA, we are grateful for each and every workplace volunteer that helps to drive extraordinary fundraising efforts in their organization each year – like long-time volunteer Janette Mannette from The Globe and Mail. For Janette, volunteering is a part of who she is and a meaningful way to get involved in different things she didn’t pursue as a career. Knowing that raising awareness and support for United Way directly makes an impact on her community has fueled her love for volunteering for over 40 years!

This National Volunteer Week, we send thanks to Janette and all the workplace volunteers out there, who's leadership and committment to inspiring colleagues to take part in the United Way campaign and get involved with their community, drive incredible impact.

On any given night thousands of people are in need of shelter. And that’s why we are grateful for community champions like the Slaight Family Foundation, who’s generous gift is fueling an innovative partnership between United Way Greater Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital’s MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions to address homelessness and create real housing solutions.

The Slaight Family Housing Lab will help tens of thousands of people experiencing homelessness and create lasting ripple effects in how we support those in need.
