Every year on June 5, people come together around the globe to celebrate World Environment Day 🌱 – an awareness day, and a reminder that protecting our environment depends not only on global commitments and large-scale solutions, but also on the choices we make every day.

At The Toronto Zoo, World Environment Day is especially meaningful because environmental sustainability is woven into everything we do – the decisions we make and the actions we take ♻️

Despite the rain, approximately 60 of our Wildlife Protector Adopt an Animal donors 🐾 joined us on May 24 for Parents Day at The Toronto Zoo!

We had an amazing time with our donors enjoying refreshments, exclusive visits from the Zoo's resident goats and birds of prey, and a special presentation from Dr. Justin Rosenberg 👨‍⚕️

We are so grateful for the ongoing support of our Adopt an Animal parents and for joining us to celebrate their contributions and deepen their understanding of the impact they make 💚

Time is running out to DOUBLE your impact for red pandas at The Toronto Zoo. ⏰

Thanks to a generous matching gift, every donation made by June 5 will be matched dollar-for-dollar to help support the new red panda habitat.

This enhanced habitat will provide expanded spaces for climbing and exploration while supporting the Zoo's important conservation work for this Endangered species.

Don't miss your chance to make twice the impact for red pandas like Poppy and Kalden. Give before June 5 at wildlifeconservancy.ca

🐢 Every year, The Toronto Zoo helps give Blanding's turtles a head start on life.

As a threatened species in Ontario, many hatchlings face significant challenges in the wild. Through the Blanding's Turtle Headstart Program, young turtles are raised until they're larger and stronger before being released into protected habitats, improving their chances of survival.

For $150, you can name one of this year's Blanding's turtle hatchlings and support the conservation efforts that make this work possible. Your adoption package includes a personalized certificate featuring your turtle's name, a turtle magnet, species fact sheet, charitable tax receipt, and more.

When you name a turtle, you're supporting the conservation efforts that make this work possible.

From incubation supplies and turtle tank heaters to radio transmitters used for tracking turtles after release, every stage of the journey relies on specialized equipment and expert care. Some of these tools include:

🥚 Egg incubation supplies ($25)
☀️ Turtle tank heaters and UV fixtures ($50)
📡 Tracking transmitters ($100)
🏞️ Headstarting tanks ($500)
🔬 Egg incubators and biologger tags ($1,000)

Before this year's turtles are released into the wild, they'll each receive a name. Name yours today by visiting tzwcadopt.ca. Please note that certificates will be sent upon turtle release later in the summer.

In honour of Leave a Legacy Month, we hosted Creating Your Legacy—an inspiring event dedicated to educating our community about the power of planned giving and to celebrate the lasting impact of legacy gifts, from estate gifts and securities to donor-advised funds and more.

During a session led by wealth planner Candice Jay and Toronto-based lawyer Emily Hubling, attendees learned about including charitable giving in their estate planning process, to carry on their dedication to philanthropy, and the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy long into the future.

We are so grateful for our Guardians Circle community, and their commitment to our vision to create a world where people, wildlife, and wild spaces thrive 🐾🌍

In the wild, fewer than 10,000 red pandas remain, and their numbers continue to fall as forests disappear and human pressures increase. Their future is fragile, and every year the threats grow.

At the Toronto Zoo, a new red panda habitat is being built to support them at every stage of life — from safe maternity spaces for newborn cubs to specialized care areas for older individuals like Kalden. This habitat is essential for red pandas like Poppy and for the long‑term survival of their species.

Right now, your gift can go twice as far.

A generous donor is MATCHING all contributions to the new red panda habitat — but only until June 5.

This is the final chance to double your impact.
This is the moment red pandas need you most.

Make your matched gift at wildlifeconservancy.ca.

Match ends June 5 on all gifts to the red panda habitat, up to $50,000.
