Greater Golden Mile - ILEO Initiative ILEO is convened by United Way Greater Toronto and BMO Financial Group We currently have three opportunities:

The Inclusive Local Economic Opportunity Initiative (ILEO) brings together the private, public, and community sectors to reduce gaps in economic prosperity at the neighbourhood level. The Inclusive Local Economic Opportunity Initiative (ILEO) will bring jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities to residents and local businesses in the Golden Mile area including Victoria Village, Ionview, Kennedy Park, Eglinton East and Flemingdon Park. ILEO is the result of a multi-sector collaboration between United Way Greater Toronto, BMO, and many other public, private and community partners. ILEO is designed to help residents and small business owners like you to benefit from the many changes coming to the Golden Mile area. 2. Storefront Starter Golden Mile: If you want to start a retail business but need help and training to launch, consider joining Storefront Starter Golden Mile! Launching in early 2022, you’ll be able to develop your idea and business plan, participate in training and coaching, get access to financing, and get an opportunity to test your product or service in a summer marketplace in 2022. 3. Aecon-Golden Mile: If you want to work in the construction industry, We’ll help you get started. We plan to grow this company so that it is working on sites in this area as the development begins. Priority will be given to residents living in the following Greater Golden Mile neighbourhoods and postal codes:

• Victoria Village, Ionview, Kennedy Park, Eglinton East and Flemingdon Park
• Postal Codes: M4A, M3C, M1L, M1K, M1J.

Great to see support for housing where it's needed most — and jobs for the people who live there!

This week the Government of Canada and the City of Toronto announced financing for 18 housing projects across Toronto. Three of them are in the neighbourhoods where we do our ILEO work:

→ 7 St. Dennis Drive — 474 homes, 95 affordable, as Phase 1 of a larger masterplan redevelopment. Developed by Osmington Gerofsky Development Corp.

→ Greencedar Commons, 3385 Lawrence Avenue East — 155 homes, 47 affordable, on land owned by The United Church of Canada. Developed by Kindred Works with United Property Resource Corporation (UPRC).

→ 1552 Weston Road — 50 homes, every one of them affordable, with 20 units deeply affordable. Developed by Mahogany management.

Thank you to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and its ACLP program, Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada and the City of Toronto for financing that gets shovels in the ground where the need is greatest. These units matter well beyond the count. In neighbourhoods where incomes are lowest, every rent increase lands hardest — and an affordable unit is often what keeps a household in place.

Every one of these buildings is also a construction site — and that is where ILEO's work begins. We look forward to working with each of these developers and their GC partners on the employment opportunities that come with building them, alongside LIUNA and Carpenters District Council of Ontario – Local 27, so that the work of building this housing becomes a career opportunity for people who live here.

Affordable housing is economic infrastructure. Building it should build local careers too.

Street Fleet is back, bringing employment support directly to residents in the Greater Golden Mile and Greater Weston Mount Dennis. Since last year, Street Fleet has hosted 51 community events and registered 710 unique jobseekers across ILEO neighbourhoods.
