📣 Happy National Seniors Day! 📣

Today we celebrate the incredible contributions of older adults to our families and communities, and reflect on how we can better support them. ❤️

At WSNCC, seniors programming is one of the things we’re most proud of. As a multi-service community agency, we offer fitness classes, wellness workshops, cultural celebrations, congregate dining, organized trips, and so much more, all designed to keep West Scarborough seniors active, connected, and fulfilled.

We’re incredibly grateful to share that Entente Education Canada’s District 24 Scarborough and East York has awarded a $4,000 grant to bring the Silver Strokes creative workshops program to our Centre! Through Silver Strokes, seniors come together for hands-on creative sessions in painting, macramé, card-making, rug-hooking, and more, with a public exhibition to showcase their work at the end of the program.

This past Monday we hosted our Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest Municipal Candidates Forum right here at WSNCC, bringing together candidates vying to be your next City Councillor for a night of questions and policy conversations. 🗳️

We’re proud to play a role in keeping our community informed, and with the municipal election on October 26th, now is the time to make your voice heard.

Here’s what you need to know:
🗓️ Election Day: October 26th, 10AM to 8PM
🗓️ Advance Polls: October 6th to 11th, 10AM to 7PM
📬 Mail-in Voting Deadline: October 14th by 12PM

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

September 30th is a day to honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home. The orange shirt is a symbol of the culture, freedom, and self-esteem that so many Indigenous children had taken from them.

We encourage our community to take time to learn and reflect on the ongoing impacts of Canada’s Residential School system and what we can all do to contribute to healing and change.

At our Fall Fair last week we set up Dunk for Team WSNCC, where community members could donate for the chance to send our Executive Director Josh into the water, all in support of the United Way ClimbUP initiative! 💦🍂

On November 14th, Team WSNCC will be climbing all 1,776 steps of the CN Tower in support of United Way Greater Toronto, helping fight local poverty and connecting people across our region to the essential services they need. The Dunk Tank is just one of many fundraising initiatives we’ll be running at West Scarborough in the lead up to ClimbUP, so stay tuned for more!

A special visit from Toronto Raptors legend Jamaal Magloire at Fall Fair 2026! 🏀🍂❤️

Through the Jamaal Magloire Foundation and the Nike Community Impact Fund, WSNCC was selected as one of 13 recipients across Toronto to receive funding that gives youth positive experiences in sport. For us, that means barrier free basketball programming right here in West Scarborough.

Having Jamaal stop by our Fall Fair to connect with our community was incredibly special. Thank you Jamaal Magloire and Jamaal Magloire Foundation for believing in West Scarborough youth! 🙏

West Scarborough, your Ward 20 Municipal Candidates Forum is happening this Monday! 🗳️📣 Join us at WSNCC on September 28th from 6:30PM to 8PM to hear directly from the candidates running to be your next City Councillor for Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest.
