We are incredibly grateful to the Toronto Fresh Air Fund for providing subsidized camp spaces, helping make it possible for more children and families in our community to experience the joy, connection, and adventure of summer camp. 💛

We were also privileged to welcome Meghan Halverson from the Toronto Star Children's Charities to visit our summer camps and see firsthand the meaningful experiences our campers and staff create each day. It was wonderful to share our programs, introduce her to our campers, and showcase the impact that accessible summer programming has on children and families.

A big thank you to the Toronto Fresh Air Fund for investing in our children and community, and to Meghan for taking the time to visit us! ☀️🌳💛

You can see the excitement on every camper’s face as they stepped up to play.

Thanks to the Toronto Blue Jays’ Jays Care Foundation, baseball at MFRC Summer Camp became a summer highlight. Kids cheered each other on and proved that being part of a team is about more than just playing the game. ⚾

Staying active helps older adults feel stronger, more energetic and ready to enjoy each day to the fullest.

Line dancing is a fun, energetic group activity that keeps both the body and mind moving. As participants learn choreographed steps together, they're strengthening coordination, supporting heart health, boosting memory and building meaningful social connections.

At MFRC, healthy aging means staying active, connected and engaged.

On Emancipation Day, we honour the courage and resilience of enslaved African people, and remember the generations who bravely fought for freedom and dignity. Their strength inspires us to keep moving forward together.

At MFRC, we are deeply committed to creating a community where everyone feels seen, valued and included. We celebrate the vibrant cultures, stories and countless contributions of people of African descent. At the same time, we acknowledge that the wounds of slavery and colonialism are not just history; they are felt in the inequities that persist today.

We were delighted to welcome Patrick Osland from Enbridge Gas to MFRC, where we shared how our Summer Camp is making a meaningful difference in the lives of children throughout Malvern and Scarborough. 💚

Our Summer Camp is a warm and inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging and encouragement to grow. Enbridge’s partnership and generous support have helped ensure that children who might otherwise miss out can stay active, explore their passions, build new skills, and enjoy wholesome meals, all in a caring, supportive setting. Families now feel supported and confident in providing their children with meaningful learning opportunities. 📚 🏀 🎨

Thank you, Enbridge, for believing in the potential of every child and helping us provide summers that inspire and create pathways for a brighter future. 👏

According to the National Institute on Ageing, 57 percent of seniors said they experienced loneliness and 43 percent were at risk of social isolation. Helping older adults build meaningful connections and stay active is a growing concern. 💯

This shows how important it is to support seniors as whole people, caring for their physical wellbeing as well as their need for connection, purpose and belonging. MFRC’s programs respond to a real and growing need in our community. With nearly a third of Canadian seniors experiencing social isolation, there is an urgent need for spaces where older adults can find the support they need. We are dedicated to providing meaningful opportunities for seniors to engage productively while enabling community members to benefit from their valuable experience. The result is a measurable impact: reduced loneliness, improved mental and physical health and a more vibrant, connected community for everyone.💚
