O'Brien Farm will be a wonderful experience where children, families and seniors will have the opportunity to learn about the farming culture of old; sustainable food growth and cultivation; and the Newfoundland - Irish heritage. Our goal is to rediscover the original beauty and bounty of this 37-acre farmland right in the heart of St. Aly O'Brien wanted his family's farm to bring a community toge

ther, and with your help we will do just that. People will learn how we still can live off the land and enjoy the simple pleasures of storytelling and song. The family home, named Thimble Cottage will serve as an educational hub where people will share stories, songs and a wealth of knowledge rich in culture! The 7 meadows will become a home for Newfoundland ponies, beautifully landscaped green spaces and more gardens. Walking trails will wind through the land and everyone will be welcome to join the O'Brien Farm Foundation on a wonderful journey into the past! The only way to truly grasp the beauty and potential of this Farm is to visit and hear the stories of the O'Brien Family and those who now care for the land! There is a lot of work to do but it will be so worth it to bring this farmland back to the community. We’re looking for more pickle competitors! Think your pickles are the real dill? We want YOU to enter this year’s Pickle-Off! Here’s what you need to know: 1) There are four categories: Jams and Jellies, Pickled Veggies, Mustard Pickles, and Ferments 2) Three pickle judges will be tasting and judging the entries, 3) 4 jars required: 1 Jar for the judges and 3 jars for the public to sample, 4) Jars must be submitted by Sept 8th!

We’re expanding our collection! Our first batch of new books arrived! We’re looking for books on basket making, fibre arts, homesteading, farm business, growing vegetables and cut flower farming, heritage crafts, and farming memoirs. If you feel like culling your own collection, please let us know! If you have books you’d like to recommend to us, please get in touch! If you’d like to come in and wander through the collection …please let us know! We’re open to all of it and dream of having an amazing resource library.

We are so excited to announce the first-ever PicklePalooza! It’s a celebration of pickles, preserving, and putting up the harvest! Come to O’Brien Farm on September 12th from 11 AM to 4 PM for food, old-fashioned carnival games, beer and cider, live music on the lawn, and pickles galore!
