Today marks 115 years of recognizing International Women's Day. Working in a sector that is female driven, we are surrounded by strong women who dedicate themselves to our social systems. United Way Newfoundland and Labrador is proud to work side by side with so many amazing women in all we do, from our staff, our board of directors, committees, and hundreds of charitable organizations all over Newfoundland and Labrador.

It's 211 Day, and we're thrilled to have a number of municipalities all over our beautiful province lighting up red and signing proclamations, in recognition of this outstanding service. Our newest board member, Stanley Oliver was on hand at the Town of Happy Valley - Goose Bay to represent us for the Labrador Region. As a partner to 211 NL, United Way Newfoundland and Labrador proudly supports this ongoing initiative that connects people with the help they need, when they need it.

Today we joined our friends from the Eating Disorder Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador to mark the opening of Eating Disorder Awareness week, with the 2026 theme being "Health Doesn't have a look". The foundation does remarkable work for families, caregivers, and individuals who are navigating an eating disorder. UWNL is proud to be a supporter to this amazing organization that provides hope to those who need this kind of care all over our province.

Today is Giving Tuesday.

We know that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are very giving. It's who we are. We take care of each other. Thanks to our donors, together we supported 42 community groups with vital programming funds, working to ensure that our most vulnerable are cared for, that our children and youth have access to supports for a best start, and that our communities are healthy, safe and inclusive places.

On this giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in our mission to improve lives and build community. Your gift plays a tremendous part in helping those in our communities who need it most.
