John Murphy was a cornerstone of our foundation from day one.
VOCM Cares is proud to make a donation in his memory again this year. This year's donation is to the 2584 Whitbourne RCACC. John shared a long-standing connection with the Whitbourne Cadets and understood the lasting impact of programs that help young people grow through citizenship, leadership and physical fitness.
Pictured here are Blair Patrick - Chair of VOCM Cares Foundation, Paul Westcott and Mark Osmond of the Army Cadet League of Canada - NL Branch, and Joseph Murphy - son of John Murphy.

We love hearing from so many fire departments across the province who are eager to get our Buddy Bears into their communitiesβ€”and we’re especially enjoying the chance to meet so many of the incredible firefighters who drop by our office! β€οΈπŸš’

πŸ‘©β€πŸš’Thank you for taking the time to connect with us, and most importantly, thank you for all that you do for our communities.

At Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department, we always keep teddy bears on our trucks to give to children we meet while responding to calls. Whether it’s a fire, motor vehicle accident, or medical emergency, these little bears can bring a bit of comfort and a smile to our youngest residents during what may be one of their darkest or most stressful moments.

Today, we received a very special donation from VOCM Cares Foundation, Buddy Bears!

VOCM has recently expanded their Buddy Bears program to reach children throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, and we are incredibly grateful to be one of the recipients of this amazing program.

While we certainly hope we never have to hand these bears out, we know that if the moment comes, having something soft, comforting, and reassuring to offer a child can make a world of difference.

We’re excited to welcome the Seaside Volunteer Fire Department to the Buddy Bears family! ❀️

VOCM Cares was very happy to present Buddy Bears to Michelle Reid and Crystal Warren of the Seaside Volunteer Fire Department. They will be bringing these Buddy Bears to the communities they serve.

We’re so happy to see the Buddy Bears making their way into fire departments across Newfoundland and Labrador β€” and even happier knowing that more children will have a friendly little Buddy by their side when they need one most. πŸ»πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Michelle, Crystal and the entire Seaside Volunteer Fire Department for helping us bring this program to life in their community!

Because a little comfort can go a long way. 🐻❀️
