YWCA St. John's envisions a feminist future, where communities are empowered and liberated from systemic oppression.

Our mission is to advance gender equity through advocacy and justice-doing programs and services. Together with 32 YWCAs across Canada and YWCAs in over 120 countries, YWCA St. John’s is a part of the largest and oldest movement to advance gender justice globally.

Today, YWCA St. John’s has been approved by The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to add up to 72 new child care spaces at the Unity Health Centre on Stavanger Drive in St. John’s, with spaces prioritized for health care workers. This is child care at work and gender equity in action! Quality, accessible and affordable childcare is essential for the safety, economic security and labour market access of women and gender diverse people.

This program offers a confidential space to practice English, find support and community connection. Hosted in partnership with the City of Mount Pearl’s RISE Program.

Eligibility Criteria:
- This space is for women and gender-diverse immigrants in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Participants must be over the age of 18.
- Services are open to newcomers regardless of immigration status (this includes permanent residents, temporary residents, refugees, international students, etc.).
