We've been a little quieter here over the summer. And perhaps there's something fitting about that.
Mindfulness isn't about filling every space. Sometimes it's about noticing when we need a little more space.

As August begins to wind down, you might take a moment to notice:
What has supported you this summer?
What are you ready to leave behind?
What would you like to carry with you into Autumn?

There is no need to rush into the next season. Today, simply notice where you are.

A reminder that mindfulness doesn't need to take an hour.
Try this:
Feel your feet on the ground.
Notice three things you can see.
Notice two things you can hear.
Take one slower breath.
That's it.
A small moment of awareness can sometimes change the course of an entire day.
What helps you come back to the present moment?

📚 Book Recommendation

One of the books that has influenced our mindfulness practice is 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴 by Richard Wagamese.

Mindfulness Everyday Associate Teacher, Daphne, shares:

"𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴 is a collection of short meditations and reflections that offers me hope and inspiration each time I return to it. The images throughout the book evoke a sense of peace and connection to the world around us, inviting moments of pause and reflection. It is a book I revisit often and one I wholeheartedly recommend."

We love hearing the books that inspire our community.

Have you read 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴? Or is there a book that has supported your own mindfulness or wellbeing journey?

We often think stress lives in our thoughts.

But stress also lives in our bodies.

Sometimes a tired, overwhelmed, irritable, or disconnected feeling isn't a sign that something is wrong with you, it may be a sign that your nervous system needs support.

Rather than asking:
"What's wrong with me?"

Try asking:
"What is my body asking for right now?"

Sometimes the answer is surprisingly simple.
🌱Rest
🌱Connection
🌱Movement
🌱Fresh air
🌱Stillness

Some days the mindful thing is lowering the bar.

Not because you've given up or don't care.
But because life asks different things of us on different days.

There are times for planning and pushing forward. And there are times for resting, recovering, and meeting ourselves where we are.

Perhaps today the practice isn't doing more.
Perhaps today the practice is:
🌿taking one slow breath
🌿drinking a glass of water
🌿stepping outside for five minutes
🌿speaking to yourself kindly

Small moments matter.
What would it look like to offer yourself a little more compassion today?

Self-compassion is the practice of meeting yourself with kindness, especially in moments of stress, struggle, or self-judgement.

It does not mean ignoring what’s hard or pretending everything is okay.

It means learning to relate to yourself with the same care and understanding you might offer to someone you love.

Many of us are quick to support others, but much harder on ourselves.

Mindful Self-Compassion offers practical tools to help you pause, soften the inner critic, and respond to difficult moments with more steadiness and care.

This short course is a gentle space to practice self-compassion, not just understand it.

Join us for a short course exploring simple, supportive practices to cultivate more kindness toward yourself.

Notice your inner voice

Pause and gently ask:

“How am I speaking to myself right now?”

Self-compassion often begins by noticing the tone we use with ourselves especially in moments of stress, mistake, or struggle.

Some days the mindful thing is lowering the bar.

Simple micro moments to care for yourself.
A slower breath.
A pause before pushing through.
Speaking to yourself with the same kindness you would offer a friend.

So many of us move through life motivated by pressure, self-criticism, or the feeling that we should always be doing more. Over time, that can become exhausting.

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) offers another way.

Beginning June 11, we’ll be offering an online 6-week MSC course exploring practical tools for responding to difficulty with greater kindness, mindfulness, and emotional resilience — without giving up on ourselves or lowering our values.

🗓 Thursdays, June 11 – July 16
⏰ 10:00–11:30am ET
