It was an extra special day for our team, as one of our own was out on the course participating in the event. 👏🧡

Behind every successful search is preparation, teamwork, and strong leadership that helps keep us moving in the right direction.

While our search teams are always ready when an activation comes, the work behind the scenes helps ensure we remain prepared, supported, and equipped to serve our community.

After our AGM, we’re proud to introduce the Saskatoon Search and Rescue Board of Directors for 2026/2027. This is a dedicated group of volunteers who will help guide our organization, support our members, and strengthen our ability to answer the call when needed.

For 20 years, Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation has been investing in organizations that make our communities stronger, safer, and more resilient.

Saskatoon Search and Rescue is incredibly grateful to have been one of those organizations.

Over the years, DDCDC has provided SSAR with nearly $95,000 in support, helping us purchase critical equipment, expand our programs, and strengthen our ability to respond when our community needs us most.

Their generous contributions have supported everything from GPS devices, radios, and communications equipment to Project Lifesaver, Wilderness First Responder equipment, Mental Health First Aid training, our SAR truck, logistics trailer upgrades, and the printing of Indigenous language colouring books in collaboration with Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers.

Because of DDCDC’s commitment and partnership, our volunteers have been better equipped, better trained, and better prepared to serve the community.

Congratulations to Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation on 20 years of meaningful community impact. Thank you for believing in SSAR and for helping us continue our mission of saving lives and serving our community.

As Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation celebrates 20 years of impact, we are looking back on the meaningful community investments that have helped strengthen organizations across the region.

In 2017, DDCDC supported Saskatoon Search and Rescue (SSAR) by providing funding for essential rescue equipment, including a mule transport system, litter, and backboard. These tools help volunteers safely transport patients across challenging terrain, improve response efficiency, and support emergency rescue efforts when the community needs them most.

This is one of many examples of how DDCDC’s support over the past 20 years has helped build safer, stronger, and more prepared communities.

The river is still moving fast and higher than normal, please be cautious in and around it! Meewasin has some good reminders and information in this post 👇

The City of Saskatoon has announced that both the height and speed of the river are rising due to releases from the Gardiner Dam, increasing potential safety risks.

Due to increased flows on the South Saskatchewan River, the following Meewasin-administered beach access sites are temporarily closed:

• Poplar Bluffs Conservation Area
• Fred Heal Canoe Launch
• Paradise Beach

Higher water levels, faster-moving currents, and changing river conditions create a serious safety risk for visitors. We ask everyone to stay out of the river and avoid accessing these areas until conditions improve.

Cranberry Flats Conservation Area and Chief Whitecap Park remain open; however, visitors are urged to use extreme caution near the river.

Increased flows have resulted in higher water levels and faster-moving currents, and river conditions can change quickly. For your safety:

• Stay out of the river.
• Keep children and pets away from the water's edge.
• Be alert for changing conditions and debris in the water.

Water levels and flow rates are rising! Water is to be released from the Gardiner Dam, and flow of the South Saskatchewan River is expected to rise significantly - the river will be higher and faster. Remember, even when a river appears calm it can still be dangerous.

What does this mean for you?
- Use caution in and around the water 🌊
- Use the upper Meewasin trails and keep back from the water's edge 🚲
- Keep children in arm's reach when near the river ☀
- Keep dogs on leash and out of the water 🐾
- Stay off the water 🛶

While many train rescues in and around water, keep yourself and others (including the rescuers!) safe by avoiding the river for the next while

We had a fantastic day yesterday out at the Saskatoon Public Schools Wâhkôhtowin School powwow. It was hot! With lots of ice, water, and sponges, we were able to help everyone stay cool, safe, and enjoying the day. Thanks so much for having us out!

While it may have been snowing only 2 weeks ago, it's hot now! Saskatoon is under a Yellow Heat Warning for the next few days as temperatures are over 30. Take care of yourself and others during this first hot spell of the summer! Hydration, sun protection, and staying indoors are good ways to beat the heat, the Saskatoon Fire Department has the list of cool down locations in the city here 👇

A big congratulations to our newest members 🎉🎓 A couple weeks ago we celebrated our newest recruits who recently completed over 60 hours of Basic Searcher training and are now full team members. How exciting to have so many new faces join our team! We're grateful for their dedication, perseverance, and hearts for this work. While not all new members were able to attend, we had a wonderful night celebrating with friends and family. Congratulations!
