Last week our Cooking & Nutrition team enjoyed being out in the community at the Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC) Food Festival with a “Food Discovery Lab”! 🍏🔬

Festival attendees had the opportunity to participate in our hands-on, educational workshop stations:

🌶Pick-A-Spice—smell, guess, choose
🌿Herb Crushing & Smelling—crush, smell, and match herb
🥒Choose Your Adventure: “Little Picklers”—pack, pour, shake
🔍Taste Detective—taste, describe, and guess

Building food literacy through community programs—it’s what we do!💪

🐟Remember a few months ago when we highlighted our 3 sisters' fish soil amendment? Well, here are our 3 sisters flourishing today!🌽

✨Our Site Coordinator Forest loves growing 3 sisters. Here is the one squash variety that has excited them the most this year:👇

“The Hopi Orange I had never heard of, just got the seeds at Seedy Sunday because it sounded interesting, and it's become the showstopper of my growing season. The leaves have a beautiful silver tinge, they're super productive, the earliest ones to set fruit, and they are getting BIG FAST.”

We’re absolutely gourd-smacked by this growth!!🙌

🌸Did you know? These flowers were grown in our growing and learning garden by youth interns in the askîy project.

Each week, our Urban Ag team harvests blooms and creates bouquets with Adam’s Bold Blooms for our Pay-it-Forward & Receive askîy Flowers program, helping make fresh, nutritious food more accessible at our Community Markets.
