Boyan Ukrainian Dance

Boyan Ukrainian Dance Founded in 1967, Boyan Ukrainian Dance Association offers youth Ukrainian Dance classes in Saskatoon. Peter and Pauls Ukrainian Dancers.

In 1967, Rosalie and Joseph Kitz decided they would take over the operations of the St. Their children were dancing with the group, and this would allow them the opportunity to become more involved with the group and their children. The club was operating out of the basement of the church and was doing well, but Joseph learned that grant money was available from the city for cultural groups such a

s theirs. To become eligible for these grants, the club would have to become a separate entitiy from the church. So under the supervision of lawyers and MLA’s, Mr. Kitz and Father Bzdel, the minister in the church at that time, applied for Non-Profit status of the club. Father Bzdel decided that they would name the group the Boyan and Bandura Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. And with that, the Boyan Ukrainian Dance Association was started. Over the years to come, failure to find instruction in the Bandura led to that portion of the name and club to be dropped, but the dance continues to live strong!

💛Our preschool Ukrainian dance class is the perfect introduction to dance! From ballet basics to exciting jumps, turns and acrobatic tricks, Ukrainian dance gives kids the chance to learn a little bit of everything as they grow!

Every week for 30 minutes dancers get to:
🌻 Learn the basics of dance in a fun, encouraging environment
🤝 Make new friends and become part of the Boyan family
💙 Connect with Ukrainian culture and traditions that can last a lifetime

Ukrainian dance teaches so much more than steps. It builds confidence, coordination, teamwork, and a love for culture—all while having a blast.

And one of the best parts? It’s affordable!

But our Boyan 60th Anniversary Planning Committee had another super productive meeting! We are getting pretty excited about what we’re putting together. 💙💛

We just wrapped up our recital ✨️ What a wonderful performance, concert and lunch put on by our dancers, instructors and board members! Thank you to everyone who came out tonight and participated in our last event this season.

We said goodbye to some of our senior dancers as they graduate and begin a new chapter. We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and hope you continue your dance journey! It was a wonderful dance season and we should all be so proud.
