WE’RE HIRING: Social Media Coordinator & Graphics Designer (Part-Time / Remote)

Are you a community-minded visual storyteller who wants to use your creative skills for social good?

The Community Arts Mentorship Program is looking for a creative individual to join our team for 10 hours/week (20-25$/hr depending on experience). We are a non-profit that works predominantly within remote and under-resourced First Nation and Métis communities, delivering impactful arts and music experiences and mentorship.

If you are passionate about digital storytelling, graphic design, and amplifying grassroots community impact, this role is for you!

What a transformational time we had at BreakOut West last week in Victoria for the Western Canadian Music Awards, and what an honour it was to be nominated in the for Area of Community Excellence!!

We’d love to give a huge shout out to Folk on the Rocks from Yellowknife, NWT for the win. They have an amazing festival with tons of community involvement, including an Artist in Residence Mentorship Program, inclusive local partnerships, year-round site access and programming. and a huge community volunteer network! Congratulations you guys for all you do and all the work you put in to enriching your community!

Steph and Eliza met so many people and organizations across Canada doing work to connect music to community, to promote musicians and uplift those just beginning their journey. And we made some exciting connections regarding a documentary the non-profit has waiting in the wings, and we can’t wait to roll that out!

Thanks to Canada Council for the Arts for their financial support in getting us there from Saskatchewan, and what an amazing opportunity for us. This was the first conference we’ve attended as the non-profit, and it was so beneficial.

Surprise surprise! We’re in Victoria, BC!

Community Arts Mentorship Program is honoured to be nominated for an Industry Achievement Award in the Area of Community Excellence and our Executive and Administrative Directors, Eliza Doyle and Steph Cameron are attending Breakout West, which is a music industry conference where they are promoting their high-quality arts mentorship programs delivered in under-resourced communities across Saskatchewan, as well as an exciting upcoming documentary!

Today we encourage you to find ways to honour those who survived, those who never made it home, and those generations still healing because of the residential school systems that were in place in our country. Today we were given time to reflect.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Although one day is never enough, staying silent and still doesn’t contribute to the healing momentum our country needs.

Healing needs all of us.

Our Indigenous Youth Music Camp Saskatoon is off to a fabulous start!

Day 1 in the books! Today the students made their personalized music camp banner, started songwriting, and got to know their instructors! We are looking forward to an amazing week!

Thanks again to our venue White Buffalo Youth Lodge for housing our program this week, and to Cherry Tree and Downie Wenjack Fund for helping fund this project!

We are so excited to be partnering with the White Buffalo Youth Lodge and the Cherry Tree Musical Fund to bring our first ever Saskatoon Indigenous Youth Music Camp to Saskatoon!

This is an opportunity for Indigenous Youth aged 11-18 to take part in learning guitar, ukulele, vocals and songwriting daily. Snacks and lunch will be provided, and the camp will be running 10 am - 4 pm daily, with breakfast being served at 9:30 am.

The location of this free camp is the White Buffalo Youth Lodge in Saskatoon at 602 20th St W, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0X7, and there will be student pick-up will be available so please note in the registration form if you need pick-up, and what the address is.

Are you a teacher or musician looking to expand your skill set and work in the beautiful town of La Ronge, Sk? Senator Myles Venne School (Grades 5-12) has an opening for a Music Instructor beginning Aug 31st 2026 - June 29th 2027.

We understand working away from home can be taxing, and this job position can be split between a few different people, with each person working a few months.

Well that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who participated in our La Ronge Youth Music Camp from June 29th - July 3rd 2026. There were classes in visual arts, fiddle, guitar, ukulele, piano, vocals, songwriting and more! At the end of the camp, participants performed what they learned at Napatak Ramble. Big thank you to Napatak Ramble and their crew for having the youth out to perform! Thank you to Senator Myles Venne School, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and the Downie Wenjack Fund for making this camp possible.

We would like to thank our fantastic group of instructors including: Eliza Doyle, Graham Tilsley, Kiera Dall’Osto, Lj Tyson Kimbley, Mitchell Dureault, Musician, Raven Reid, Riley Burr, and Travis Williams and camp director Olivia Morelli. They helped create a safe and positive environment for the youth to learn.

Big thanks to our cook, our bus drivers, and the Senator Miles Venne School staff who made our camp run so smoothly. Special thanks to the community for welcoming us again this year, to the instructors for bringing talent and positive vibes, and to our funders who make this all possible!
