Red Deer Food Bank

Red Deer Food Bank The Food Bank provides emergency food assistance for people in Red Deer and immediate area. This is a problem we can address.

Our Purpose
We are the first line of support when people are facing food insecurity. Our Rallying Cry
In the face of many unsolvable global issues, it’s easy to feel apathetic and unsure how to make a positive impact. But the truth is, the best way to make change is to start here and now. In our community, there is an abundance of food, yet people still go hungry. We have the supply, the knowledge

, and the connections to feed those in crisis. All we need is people to step up and join in. Let’s work together so no one goes hungry. Our Vision:
Accessible food for all. Our Mission:
To relieve hunger today, prevent hunger tomorrow. Our Values:

*Collaboration
We engage our community in working towards lasting social change, where all are supported to seek help and assist each other.

*Equity
We recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every person and treat all with respect and compassion.

*Food Security
We believe access to healthy food and proper nutrition is a fundamental human right.

*Innovation
We continuously pursue new and refined solutions to serve the needs of our community.

Hi everyone! We are so excited to announce that we just got confirmation from the city that we will be doing 30 garden plots (50 square ft. each) at Parkside Community Gardens this summer. However, we are a little bit behind schedule for planting/seeding, so we could use any help we can get really in speeding up that process. Please let us know if you are able to donate or let us borrow these 2 items, it would've greatly appreciated! 💙

Having a job no longer guarantees food security.

There was a time when one income could support a family, young adults could afford rent on their first paycheck, and hard work created stability.

That reality is changing.

According to the 2026 Food Banks Canada Poverty Report:
• 1 in 4 Canadians are food insecure
• Food bank visits have doubled since 2020
• 28.4% of Albertans are experiencing food insecurity
• 43% of Albertans spend more than 30% of their income on housing

More working people and families are struggling to afford the basics.

Parents are skipping meals so their children can eat.
Young adults are working full-time and still unable to afford rent alone.
Families are doing everything they can just to keep up.

And 40% of people experiencing food insecurity are children.

Food insecurity can happen to anyone.

Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Central Alberta where everyone has access to the food and essentials they need.
