She doesn't just want to learn about it. She wants to build it.

Ten Peaks' Bot Basics and Beyond camp for ages 12 to 15 puts students to work on real problems. They'll design a robotic solution to food scarcity, get hands-on with SMART farming technology, and hear directly from ag-tech entrepreneurs doing this work in Alberta right now.

It's not a passive week. It's a small group, a real challenge, and a finished build she'll actually be proud of.

Sessions are running this summer in Red Deer, Lacombe, Calgary, and Edmonton. Pay What You Can options are available for qualifying families.

Spots are limited. Find your session and register at 10peaks.ca/camps.

What does sustainability actually mean for Canadian business -- and why should students care?

It's bigger than most people think. From Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) frameworks to supply chain risks like modern slavery, sustainability is reshaping how companies operate at home and around the world. And Alberta students get a front-row seat to that conversation at .

This panel brings together five sustainability leaders -- Frank McShane and Craig Stenhouse (Shift Critical), Bill Whitelaw (geoLOGIC systems), Janice Major (Northview Residential REIT), and Dr. Irene Herremans (Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary), for a real, wide-open discussion on what sustainability looks like in practice.

This is the kind of conversation students won't get in a textbook.

Your students use AI every day. But do they know what it actually runs on?

At this October, two Alberta-connected experts are going to pull back the curtain on data centres, artificial intelligence, and the very real energy infrastructure behind all of it.

Mark Taylor has spent nearly 40 years working across oil and gas, energy regulation, and government policy. He's currently VP External Affairs at Captus Generation, which is developing a natural gas power facility with carbon capture and storage south of Pincher Creek -- and working to bring data centres onto that same land. Mark also works with First Nations communities on economic reconciliation across the energy sector.

Wish Bakshi is an AI Systems Engineer who builds real AI systems for energy companies across Alberta and Texas, and teaches at Queen's University and the University of Calgary.

Their session will cover the electricity demand behind AI growth, the skilled trades and disciplines needed to support it, and -- because they promised -- a little bit of Terminator.

Practical, Alberta-relevant, and genuinely interesting. That's the goal.

Teachers: registration is open, and school sponsorships up to $500 are available. Apply before June 15: https://www.10peaks.ca/conferences/student-registration2026

Meet two of the students speaking at this year's Conference.

Avriee Peavoy and Mauro Garcia are Grade 12 students from École Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School. They've spent years designing and programming competitive robots through the FIRST Tech Challenge, mentoring kids at Ten Peaks Summer Camps, and building real skills along the way. Avriee also earned the FIRST Leadership Award for Western Canada -- one of the most recognized student leadership honours in the country.

At the conference, they'll share what that journey actually looked like: the problem-solving, the teamwork, the mentorship, and what it means to use technology as a tool for community.

This is what Ten Peaks is about. Real students. Real skills. Real Alberta.

May 22 is International Day for Biological Diversity -- and it's a good day to remember why this matters right here in Alberta.

Biodiversity isn't just a science concept. It's the foundation of healthy forests, clean water, and the land and industries Alberta depends on. When students understand it, they start seeing their province differently.

Want to get outside and do something about it? Ten Peaks is joining the Rotary Club of Red Deer's Branches Out tree planting day on June 6, at MacKenzie Trail.

Register today and bring your students, bring your kids, bring your friends: https://tinyurl.com/RotaryBranchesOutRedDeer

We also wrote about why biodiversity sits at the heart of what we do on a recent blog: https://www.10peaks.ca/blog/biodiversity-is-at-the-heart-of-10pix2025and-our-futurenbsp

Happy World Bee Day! We're buzzing with gratitude for the bees that sustain our planet!

Want to help support our pollinators?

🌼Plant Native Flowers: Cultivate pollinator-friendly plants and wildflowers.
💧Provide Water: Place a shallow dish of water with pebbles inside for bees to land on while drinking.
☠Skip Pesticides: Limit or completely avoid the use of harsh chemicals and pesticides in your garden.
🍯Support Local Beekeepers: Purchase raw honey and beeswax products from local Alberta apiaries.

After all, a partnership with bees sustains us all. 🐝

What does a geologist who worked in geothermal energy have to say about AI?

Quite a bit, it turns out.

Cole Narfason is bringing one of the more unexpected sessions to this year -- showing students how artificial intelligence is being used to track biodiversity and why his path through geology, data science, and the energy sector led him there.

If your students think "energy" and "environment" belong in separate conversations, this session will change that.
