Did your family do Meatloaf Monday or Sunday Roast every.single.week? Our Meals on Wheels chef has created an 8 week rotation for our meals, so while you'll still get favourite meals on a regular basis, there is enough variety to keep our clients from getting bored! (Sorry, Mom 😬😆)

Our meals can always be customized to meet client dietary needs and food preferences, so it's perfectly possible to get meals you enjoy every day without the stress and hassle of doing your own meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking. If the summer heat makes it tough to even think about spending time in the kitchen, consider letting our Meals on Wheels chef do the cooking for you. You get hot, healthy meals delivered right to your door--without having to break a sweat!

Our program offers the flexibility to make your life easier--sign up for a few days a week, a few weeks or months out of the year, or full time year 'round. Give our office a call and let the MOW staff tell you all about our amazing program options☀️😎

🥗 Meals on Wheels clients are always happy to see our drivers arrive laden with yummy hot meals--and fresh garden salads! Our salads often incorporate fresh microgreens and veggies grown right in the Food Bank greenhouses, and for only $1.05, they are the perfect addition to a meal 🥗

Meals on Wheels is looking for new drivers to join our awesome crew of volunteers. Whether you can spare us a couple hours every week to be a regular driver, or just fill in every once in a while when a driver is away, we'd love to have you join us!

Our drivers come from all walks of life--folks who are retired, who are self-employed, who are students, who work part-time, who are stay at home parents, who have a corporate volunteer program, who have flexibility in their work schedule--and work together with our staff to spread happiness to our clients and community every day.

Two weeks ago, Red Deer Meals on Wheels held our AGM. We have a few new faces on the board (plus one board member who somehow managed to sneak out of the room before we did group pictures! 😎), and lots of volunteers and supporters who have been with us for a few years ... and some for more than a few!!! Our sincere thanks to the board and staff who work so hard at keeping our program on sound financial footing, and to our volunteer drivers who make what we do possible every day and every season 🥰

As always, if you have questions or concerns about the MOW program, please give our office a call and/or arrange to sit in on a board meeting. We always love to have engaged and informed volunteers and supporters!

Some 'behind the scenes' news from Red Deer Meals on Wheels ...

We've had a change in staff in the last month, and I've moved into the office as an assistant program director to fill in the gap. While I won't be a regular volunteer driver or board member any more, I will get to keep doing our weekly Facebook posts and I'll get to do more to help our daily meal assembly and to support our volunteers. So, to reintroduce myself ...

Hi! My name is Jana, and I'm the newest member of the MOW staff 👋 I'm so excited to be here and to learn SO much from our long-time staff, Louise and Gina, and all of our drivers and clients! (And a disclaimer--any mistakes in the recent past and future will undoubtedly have been mine, and I promise I'm getting better 😉)

The Red Deer Meals on Wheels annual general meeting will be held today! The meeting begins at 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion building on Bremner Avenue. If you haven't submitted an rsvp, please contact Louise at the MOW office before coming out--we want to make sure to have a big enough coffee pot on 🙂

14,164!! That's the number of individual meals served by Red Deer Meals on Wheels in 2025! And it's a whole lotta mashed potatoes and meat sauce and broccoli and all of the other delicious meal 'parts' made by our chef every day 👨‍🍳

One of our long-time volunteer and board members is 'retiring' from her Meals on Wheels roles--and we're sure going to miss her! A million thanks to Noreen for 18 years of sharing her time and talents with us 💐
