Threads of Wisdom Part 1 - May 17th, 2026

Strategy, laughter, and wisdom in action!

Watch the highlights from our African Board Games session at Threads of Wisdom: Intergenerational Knowledge Exchange.

What began as a game quickly became an opportunity for connection, learning, and shared experiences. Seniors passed down traditional knowledge and cultural values, while youth embraced the challenge, excitement, and lessons embedded within these timeless African games.

Beyond the fun, these activities help reduce social isolation among seniors, stimulate cognitive engagement, promote mental wellness, and strengthen bonds between generations.

Because sometimes the greatest lessons are learned around a game board.

Enjoy the highlights!

Threads of Wisdom Part 1 - May 17, 2026

Strategy, laughter, and wisdom in action.

Our African Board Games session brought generations together around the table to learn, play, and connect through traditional African games.

More than just entertainment, these games encourage critical thinking, memory, communication, and cultural learning. Seniors shared knowledge of traditional games while youth eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn and engage.

The result? New friendships, stronger community bonds, reduced social isolation, and meaningful intergenerational exchange.

Sometimes the most powerful lessons are learned through play.

Threads of Wisdom Part 1 -May 17th, 2026

Our Tie & Dye session brought together seniors, youth, and families in a vibrant celebration of culture, colour, and intergenerational connection.

As participants explored traditional textile arts, they shared stories, skills, and laughter while creating unique designs. The activity encouraged self-expression, stimulated creativity, and provided a welcoming space for meaningful social interaction.

Moments like these help combat social isolation, support mental wellness, and ensure valuable cultural knowledge is passed from one generation to the next.

Creating art. Creating memories. Creating community.

Threads of Wisdom Part 1.

We officially launched our Threads of Wisdom program on the 17th of May, 2026.

Every bead tells a story.
History was made at Threads of Wisdom, as our seniors and youth came together through the timeless art of bead making, sharing creativity, culture, and conversation one bead at a time.

Beyond creating beautiful pieces, participants built meaningful connections, exchanged life experiences, and strengthened bonds across generations. Activities like these help reduce social isolation among seniors, promote mental wellness, and create opportunities for youth to learn directly from the wisdom and experiences of older generations.

Because when generations create together, communities grow stronger together.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
