Make your own cyanotype photogram on Oct 18!

We are excited to announce a Family-focused walk at 10 am during the Bioblitz. (This is in addition to the walks and events that start at 7:30 am)

The Family meadow walk starting at 10 am will be one hour long. It will be lead by local artist Susan Robertson. She will invite participants to gather a few nature items and show them how to create a cyanotype photogram which they can take home!

What is a cyanotype photogram? This is a unique (and old) technique to create an image of an object without using a camera. This was first used for botanical specimens. It is sometimes called sun printing.

Have you heard of the Poet’s Pathway?

The Poets’ Pathway is a walking and biking trail of approximately 35 kilometres, that runs from Britannia Beach, south along Pinecrest Creek, east along Nepean Creek ; it crosses the Rideau River, moves north to the Ottawa River, and ends in Beechwood Cemetery where the poets lie.

Join us at Protecting Nature through Community Art and Poetry on Oct 17 to learn more about the Poet’s Pathway, hear poetry from local Poets, celebrate nature through music and learn how to protect our natural spaces!

The gift of nature, poetry and music come together on October 17 to celebrate the splendour of McCarthy woods and to ensure its preservation. Join us for an afternoon where culture and nature will be on display and we can learn more about saving our environmental gift (or neighbourhood greenspace).

♻ October is Circular Economy Month! Join the City of Ottawa at Ottawa’s first ever Circular Fair.

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 10, the City of Ottawa , Ottawa South Eco-Action Network - OSEAN , and the Ottawa Tool Library is putting together a Circular Fair. Experience practical ways to reduce waste through reuse and repair including a Repair Café, a clothing drop-and-swap, and other community-driven circular economy activities. The Circular Fair will demonstrate how small actions can help build a more circular, resilient and sustainable Ottawa.
