Dear SLCAO Members,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual General Meeting last week. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on a great year for our association, and I want to share some of the highlights with those who couldn't attend.
This past year, we:
- Raised funds to support those affected by Cyclone Ditwah
- Celebrated our 50th anniversary with the Legacy Gala
- Hosted successful summer events, including the Tri-City Cricket Tournament, the Sports Meet, the Six-A-Side Cricket Tournament and helped with hosting a Taste of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the High Commission.
- Refreshed our website, www.slcaottawa.com, and added a community business directory feature that will be updated in the coming months
We are proud of what our community accomplished together, and grateful to everyone who volunteered, attended, and supported our events.
We Need You: Join the 2026-2027 Committee
At the AGM, we did not receive enough nominations for the incoming committee for the 2026-2027 year. The current committee will stay on for the next couple of weeks to help with the transition, but will not be continuing beyond that. We would love to see new faces and fresh ideas step forward so the association can keep growing.
Serving on the committee goes well beyond community service. It is also a chance to build your network, develop leadership and professional skills, and gain experience that benefits you in other areas of your life here in Canada.
We will be holding another meeting within the next two weeks, and nominations are still being accepted. If you have new ideas and want to give back to our community, we encourage you to submit your nomination. Kindly reach out to [email protected] to express interest.
Thank you for your continued support of the Sri Lanka Canada Association.
Warm regards,
Executive Committee
