CAHP Executive Director Eric Collard is currently in Gatineau at the Action Patrimoine’s “Colloque 2026: Patrimoine bâti et paysages, tisser son territoire”.

This year’s theme invites participants to reflect on the relationship between land-use planning and the enhancement of our built heritage and cultural landscapes. It encourages the search for solutions and the development of a sustainable, comprehensive vision for the responsible development of our territories, in harmony with their history.

Eric Collard, directeur général de l’ACECP, se trouve actuellement à Gatineau pour participer au « Colloque 2026 : Patrimoine bâti et paysages, tisser son territoire » par Action Patrimoine.

Le thème de cette année invite les participants à réfléchir à la relation entre l’aménagement du territoire et la mise en valeur de notre patrimoine bâti et de nos paysages culturels. Il encourage la recherche de solutions et l’élaboration d’une vision d’ensemble pérenne pour un développement responsable de nos territoires, en harmonie avec leur histoire.

Join us on October 21st for a free pre-conference public lecture by CAHP Past-President Adam Hatch, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Chris Wiebe of the National Trust for Canada / Fiducie nationale du Canada exploring how the retrofit industry in Canada is reshaping and how you can keep up.

📍Location: Crystal Ballroom at the Walper Hotel (Kitchener, ON)
🕰️ Time: Doors open at 7 p.m. and the lecture begins at 7:30 p.m.

🎙️This episode, Stephen Collette talks with Nikolas Marsall-Moritz, a Professional Engineer in the Building Science and Restoration Group at RJC Engineers. As part of this group Nikolas leads and is involved in projects including evaluation and rehabilitation programs of existing structures (both historic and more modern), and consulting on retrofit construction projects.

In addition to his background in structural engineering with a focus on building rehabilitation, Nikolas was part of the Heritage Calgary from 2013 to 2022, has been on the APT Canada Board of Directors, and is currently the CAHP Treasurer. Nikolas has worked on projects across Alberta, the Columbia and Elk Valleys in British Columbia and southern Saskatchewan. Originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta, he currently lives in Calgary, and has entirely too much LEGO.

Au sein de ce groupe, Nikolas dirige et participe à divers projets, notamment des programmes d'évaluation et de réhabilitation de structures existantes (tant historiques que plus modernes), ainsi qu'à des missions de conseil dans le cadre de projets de rénovation.

Outre son expérience en ingénierie des structures, notamment dans le domaine de la réhabilitation des bâtiments, Nikolas a fait partie de l'association Heritage Calgary de 2013 à 2022, a siégé au conseil d'administration d'APT Canada et occupe actuellement le poste de trésorier de l'ACECP.

Nikolas a travaillé sur des projets dans toute l'Alberta, dans les vallées de Columbia et d'Elk en Colombie-Britannique, ainsi que dans le sud de Saskatchewan. Originaire de Medicine Hat, en Alberta, il vit actuellement à Calgary et possède beaucoup trop de LEGO.

Le chapitre de la Colombie-Britannique de l’ACECP a organisé la semaine dernière une excellente réunion annuelle des professionnels ; le directeur général de l'ACECP, Eric Collard, et le président de l'ACECP, Adam Hatch, y ont participé et se sont adressés au sujet du rapport intitulé « Valoriser le potentiel des bâtiments existants » et des travaux en cours visant à mettre en œuvre ses conclusions.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. Today and every day, we recognize the ongoing impact of this history and reaffirm our commitment to the journey toward reconciliation.

Le 30 septembre est la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. Nous rendons hommage aux enfants qui ne sont jamais rentrés chez eux, aux survivants des pensionnats pour Autochtones, ainsi qu'à leurs familles et à leurs communautés. Aujourd'hui et chaque jour, nous prenons conscience des répercussions persistantes de cette histoire et réaffirmons notre engagement en faveur du cheminement vers la réconciliation.
