Safety knowledge isn't something we learn once and never revisit.

Whether you're maintaining existing certifications, refreshing key concepts, or expanding your understanding of workplace safety, ongoing learning plays an important role in building safer workplaces and communities.

Through Canada Safety Council training partners, learners can access online courses covering topics such as WHMIS, TDG, equipment safety, hazard awareness, and workplace compliance — all with the flexibility to learn at their own pace.

As National Road Safety Week comes to a close, the reminder remains simple: routine drives still deserve your full attention. Fatigue, distraction and rushed decisions can quietly increase risk, especially on familiar roads. Staying focused behind the wheel is a habit that matters long after this week ends.

Safe driving starts before the vehicle moves. Giving yourself enough time, planning rest stops and limiting distractions ahead of a longer drive can reduce stress and improve focus.

Many everyday trips feel low-risk because they’re short, familiar and uneventful. But serious collisions often happen close to home, during routine drives people rarely think twice about.

Many serious road conflicts happen during turning movements and at intersections. Taking an extra second to scan crosswalks, bike lanes and traffic flow can prevent a life-changing mistake.

Many drivers continue home tired because the trip feels short or manageable. But fatigue affects awareness, decision-making and reaction time, even on familiar roads.

This National Road Safety Week, a reminder: recognize fatigue as a form of impairment, and don't get behind the wheel when overly tired.

A notification, dashboard screen or passing thought may seem harmless in the moment. But distracted driving reduces reaction time exactly when quick decisions matter most — especially at intersections and crosswalks.

You know the route. You’ve driven it hundreds of times. That familiarity can create a false sense of security behind the wheel. During National Road Safety Week, take a closer look at the small habits that shape how you drive every day.
