One walk. Thousands of reasons to take part. đź’ś

For someone you lost. For someone who is struggling. For someone who supported you. For yourself.

On September 13, our community will come together for the 22nd Annual Distress Centre Durham Walk for Su***de Awareness, presented by Ontario Power Generation, at Cullen Central Park in Town of Whitby - Local Government .

It’s a 5 km walk. But its impact will go further.

Every step helps raise awareness about su***de prevention. Every conversation helps challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. And every dollar raised helps support people in our community affected by su***de.

Funds raised support Distress Centre Durham’s HELP LINE, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through specially trained community volunteers and crisis workers. They also support Su***de Survivor Initiatives, helping individuals and families navigate life after su***de loss.

You can be part of it.

đź’ś Walk in memory of someone.

đź’ś Walk alongside someone.

đź’ś Walk to support mental health and su***de awareness in Durham Region.

đź’ś Or donate to someone who is walking.

However you choose to take part, you’re helping remind people across our community that they don’t have to face difficult moments alone.

đź—“ Join us September 13.

Register for the DCD Walk for Su***de Awareness - fb.DCDWalk.ca

Research helps shape the future of health care. 🔍

Thanks to early support from the Lakeridge Health Foundation Research & Education Fund, Dr. Shannon Fernando launched the "BLUSH" trial. It's Lakeridge Health's first Health Canada-approved investigator-led study exploring a promising new treatment for sepsis.

That early investment has helped pave the way for national recognition, including a new $543,150 Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant to expand the study into a multi-centre clinical trial.

Together, we're bringing specialized care closer to home for children and families across Durham Region. đź’™

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Lakeridge Health Foundation raised $1 million to equip the new procedure room at Grandview Kids—helping children receive anaesthesia-assisted care in a safe, familiar, and family-centred environment, in partnership with Lakeridge Health.

It's a powerful example of what's possible when a community comes together to transform health care.
