The Canadian Cancer Society reminds you that being proactive and prepared applies to breast cancer screening too.

Benefits of regular mammograms:
- Having a mammogram reassures you if the result is normal.
- Most women who have a mammogram will not have breast cancer and only a small number may need more tests.
- Early detection of breast cancer may mean less treatment and less time spent recovering.
- Most breast cancers are harmful and should be detected and treated as early as possible.
- The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better your chance of survival.

Our event would not be possible without the dedication of our incredible volunteers. The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led event in support of the breast cancer cause. Thanks to the commitment and passion of our volunteers, we continue to fund life-changing research and vital support programs for those impacted by breast cancer.

It takes ~8–15 ponytails to make one real-hair wig

CCS stopped accepting hair donations due to:
Lower demand for human-hair wigs
Improved synthetic wig technology

👉 This reflects:
• Lower program costs
• Easier maintenance for patients
• Faster distribution

On Jan 18, 2026 the Canadian Cancer Society was at the Oshawa Generals Hockey Game at Tribute Center in support of their fundraiser. Some of our Run for the Cure committee were there to help out. And a volunteer driver for Wheel of Hope was there too.
