WeGrowFood is growing over 3500 cool weather crop seeds planted for the gardens this fall.

Once they germinate these are going to take a lot of space as we transplant them all.

garden, that registers, will receive - bok choy, Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, and spinach seedlings as well as radish seeds.

Let’s beat last years harvest by schools that grew enough to either send students home with enough greens for the whole family or enough to build a huge salad shared within the school.

Out newest option is to make huge pots of vegetable soup through our Stone Soup program…

So many great ideas….. the team’s minds are racing….. :))))

DM or email us if you would like to have your Edible Garden participate in receiving cool weather crop seedlings.

Visited the DARS Farm edible gardens. They look incredible!

So much food is being grown. it was fun to do a “using and drying herbs” workshop. With some of the residents. All herbs were identified, carefully harvested, bundled and hung to dry. Once they are dry they will be stored in mason jars for later use. There are enough herbs being grown to support the household as well as sell at their farm stand

Once herbs were dried we had fun with the tailgate herb butter making. Creamy butter, fresh garlic and a selection of herbs from the garden chopped and blended in a food processor to the perfect consistency!

We discussed everyone’s favorite blends …. Endless options.

More beautiful WeGrowFood gardens❤️

There is something beautiful about kindness and generosity that flows naturally, with no effort.

We needed more plants for the gardens we are working on and our regular supplier was running short. So, while I (Carol) was at home I went to our local garden center that I use a lot. I picked about four flats of plants and went up to the cash.

I asked casually if there was a discount for non profit organizations and I briefly said what we did.

She replied…. Let me go ask…..

When she returned she said …. no…. To which I replied ….no problem ….and handed over my credit card. I truly did not think anything about her answer. I am sure they get asked a lot.

She looked at me and said …. “No, no charge. And please go back and take anything else you may need….”

My heart filled ….

Thank you so much Madoc Garden Center
