🍂 Fall Creativity at OMAH! 🍁

Join Arts Immersion for a cozy, creative fall afternoon at the Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH)! ✨

We’ll explore OMAH’s Tradition Transformed landscape exhibition for inspiration, then let our creativity take over in a hands-on workshop!
🖼️ Using layered, torn paper, we’ll create our own autumn-inspired landscape cards filled with colour, texture, and a little fall magic. 🍁

💚 No experience needed! Just bring yourself, enjoy a relaxing afternoon of creativity, and connect with your community. Everyone deserves a little time to slow down, make something beautiful, and enjoy the season!

To every storyteller who stepped up, every artist who created a tile, every audience member who cheered someone on, and every partner, volunteer, and supporter who helped make the evening possible...THANK YOU! 🙌💛

The creativity and uniqueness poured into each submitted tile was incredible. Every piece brought its own story, perspective, personality, and spark, proving once again just how much talent and imagination lives right here in our community. ✨

We were thrilled to recognize Lucy Goodman, nominee for the Youth Voice in Arts and Culture Award! 🎉

At just 13, Lucy founded the Raccoon Skate Club in Orillia — a youth-led community where kids of all ages and abilities can learn to skate, connect, and give back. 🛹 From providing loaner boards to organizing food donations for the Orillia Community Fridge, Lucy leads with creativity, compassion, and courage.

Her passion and leadership are inspiring a new generation of youth voices in arts and culture across our region. 💛

We were thrilled to recognize Kamdyn Caputo, a nominee for the Youth Voice in Arts and Culture Award! 🌟

A talented young filmmaker, photographer, and storyteller, Kamdyn used his creative voice to celebrate others and strengthen local pride. His 2024 documentary If You Bake It captures the heart of Orillia through the story of Kathy’s Bakery — a tribute to community, love, and resilience. 🥧

Through film, photography, and media, Kamdyn is building connections across generations and showcasing the beauty in local stories. 🎥

We were thrilled to recognize Sukhi Kaur of North Simcoe Arts as a nominee for the Community Impact Through Arts & Culture Award. ✨

Sukhi brings kindness, creativity, and dignity to every space she enters, using art to connect with people experiencing homelessness and help them explore their talents in a safe, welcoming environment. Through her Art of Hope program, participants in youth and supportive housing have discovered new skills, gained confidence, and shared their gifts—all guided by Sukhi’s compassion and expertise.

Her approach is rooted in process over perfection, creating opportunities for learning, expression, and community building. Sukhi’s dedication ensures that art is accessible to all skill levels, fostering connection, empowerment, and hope throughout North Simcoe. 🌟

We are so happy to share the videos of he 2025 North Simcoe Art and Culture nominations in preparation for the upcoming 2026 awards! 🌟

We were excited to celebrate Carolyn Boyd as a nominee for the Community Impact Through Arts & Culture Award. ✨

Carolyn is a passionate fine artist and dedicated mentor who uses her creativity to support individuals of all abilities. From her studio on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay to workshops across Orillia and Barrie, she empowers participants with art therapy, private lessons, and group workshops, helping them explore creativity, resilience, and self-expression.

Despite facing her own challenges with chronic pain and disability, Carolyn continues to inspire through teaching, volunteering, and public exhibitions. Her commitment to making art accessible has earned her the Artist Beyond Barriers Award (2024) and countless accolades for her mentorship and community contributions. 🌟

The prompt is “A moment that made you feel connected.” Pick up a tile and use colour, images, symbols, or whatever inspires you to capture your story.

Tiles can be picked up September 4–25 at:

We were excited to celebrate Lesley Truemner of Monsignor Lee School as a nominee for the Community Impact Through Arts & Culture Award. ✨

Lesley’s leadership brought Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr. to life, transforming a school play into a professional-caliber production. Her tireless dedication, unique vision, and encouragement allowed every student to shine, regardless of ability or financial circumstance. She adapted scripts, coached performers, and created roles for every child, building confidence and a love for the arts in her students.

Her work is a labour of love that touches the whole community, setting a new standard for inclusive, high-quality theatre in Orillia. Students and families alike are inspired by her commitment to creativity, growth, and opportunity on the stage. 🌟
